Many Nigerians for different reasons known to them are laughing off the NLC proposal.
Some of these people are some gullible-brainwashed Nigerians who always believe the lies and propaganda churned out by the APCs administration.
The others are those who are simply envious of the workers been considered for the proposed minimum wage that they can't bear or phathom a situation where Nigerian workers would be getting a living wage

Can Nigeria pay the proposed amount? Obviously, Nigeria can pay double the amount.
The amount of money stolen by a single politician can pay the proposed amount of an entire state.
The amount EFCC discloses these politicians steal is tip of the iceberg to what they are actually stealing...

All these thieving politicians have fake farms where they build underground warehouses where they park and hide raw cash in local and foreign currencies. Not just the politicians but also ranking officers of law enforcement agencies - the police, the military etc.
These monies are purposely hidden away simply to prevent them from getting to Nigerians that desperately need them...

That is fair

At today’s exchange rate of about N1550 per Dollar, that amount translates to less than $400 for one whole month

And with about 22 working days a month, that’s about $18 a day

And with 8 working hours a day, that’s about $2 an hour, and this is still one of the lowest in the world

This will lead to the father of all inflation, bag or rice , beans , garri will cost more than N1m.

Zimbabwe and Argentina inflation will look like child's play.

Nigeria has one and only one option, go the soviet route and restructure into many viable, stable republics . Salary increments will not solve structural issues.

If Nigeria had gone into confederation, the issues would have been isolated

Let's be realistic here 615k? Can any state pay such amount? Even the almighty Lagos state can not pay half of it as minimum wage

Because we have been negligent since 2015 and have allowed our EXCHANGE RATE TO DEGENERATE FROM N180:$1 TO THE PRESENT LEVEL, TINUBU MUST REGULATE THE ECONOMY AND RECONCILE WITH THE LABOR AS FOLLOWS:-

PAY MINIMUM WAGE N50'000 PER MONTH.

TAG NAIRA AT N500:$1

INCREASE ELECTRICITY GAS AND OTHER TARIFFS BY 67%.

FIX PETROL AT N500: PER LITER; KEROSENE AT N500: PER GALLON; DIESEL AT N600: PER LITER.

The thing is that most of the people saying federal government should fix it at 615k are not considering the organised private sector and the medium scale business owners. There will be massive job losses and even many private companies will not comply. This is in addition to inflation that it will most definitely aggravate.

We should be more focused on fiscal policies that will increase the purchasing power of the naira.

The N615k living wage proposed by the NLC simply showes they are all just a bunch of illiterates who want economic change but don't understand how economy works.

Unfortunately OP is one of the empty headed folks.

If not chronic illiteracy why would OP keep talking about government as if government owns the private sectors and pays their salaries?

The country is drowning in inflation and you think this is the next best thing.

OP is even saying we have the money.

He thinks its money the money is just N615k.

Illiteracy is killing this country.

Let me break it down a little.

The general managers of a company is getting a pay of 500k
Now you have inccreased the salary of the cleaner and security guard to 615k, will the GMs salary remain at N500k?
The increament will now be by percentage, now the company has to look at the percentage increase from the securitys old 40k to the new 615k that same percentage will be applied to GM.

Now op and his fellows are not retarded, how will someone who has saved or taken a loan of 5m to start a business pay even the cleaner N615k because 615k for just 2 months has taken 1.3m out of the loan of 5m.....

Una see say all of una stupid?

No government, union, group, citizens that mean well for their country will suggest this wickedness.

You want a better economy, but you want to destroy SMEs and render many jobless...

Conpanies will simply layoff alot of people, and increase the price of the goods and services, at the end of the day you will have more jobless people on the streets and more expensive goods in the market.

Is government going to pay my childrens driver, is the government gonna pay, my farm hands, security? I am talking about the lowest,
If i am spending N5m on salaries right now do you think my goods and services will remain at the same price the same price after spending N50m on salaries.

Una go buy purewater 1k, when the pure water company spends N3.1 million on just 5 drivers as against the N500k it was spending previously.

Not supporting the senators here, but you have to put the number of senators and Nigerian workers side by side to understand that more money would be at the hands of many, hence inflation.

If senetors collecting over 50M cannot cause inflation, 600k will not cause inflation..leave that argument.

How many senators are collecting that amount, compare that to the number of workers that would collect 600k; which one do you think would lead to more money flooding the country?

This is simple math, keep your emotions aside.

You can argue for 600k for all I care but using what the Senate receive is just distasteful calculation.

If Nigeria senators can be the highest paid in the world for doing absolutely nothing, Nigeria workers can’t be the lowest paid in the world. It’s all wrong and no same person should support that.
Minimum wage of 600k can’t cause any inflation in Nigeria.
By the time you add all the salaries of the senators and house of rep members plus their allowances plus the monies they steal for doing nothing, it doesn’t even equal the amount workers will receive when the minimum wage becomes 600k..
Even with the 18k minimum wage is there no inflation??

forget the foolish paid Judas. People are paid #15-30k here in Nigeria and there's hyperinflation. What he doesn't understand is that there are bigger population of people than the workers in markets in Nigeria that earn from their trade more than 2m every month.
