The places that should be called Abuja are well built like these estate roads shown here. I know when Abuja is mentioned what jumps into your mind is Nyanya, Kubwa and Lugbe. Those are suburbs.
Suburbs of your village abi.

This is Abuja.

Why can't these state governors build their streets like this?

This is how a normal street looks in a sane environment.

Covered drains. Sidewalks.

It's not rocket science!
Most States were not designed for this purpose .

To build a street wide with covered drainage and side wall would require the State to set back most of the buildings on that street.

Many people would become Anti-government just because of that.

However in order for people to see the good laid development on our roads, most existing road side building would have to be demolished.

You can never do anything to please Nigerians, we crave for development but we don't want to pay the price for development.

There is a way Nigerian politicians have conditioned some of thier supporters to think what is the norm they make it appear as if they are doing them a favour. This is how roads in sane society are built. Road construction are normal day to day activities no fan fare or some so called commissioning or people campaigning with building roads. In fact in addition to the covered drainage, the side walks should contains special lane for cyclist and street signs.

State governors who want to build streets.
Some states and street reconstruction, talk less build new streets, have been a thing for state capital.
Since 1999, Imo state has been building state capital only. Successive Governors of the so-called most educated state don't seem to understand that modern infrastructures can also be built outside Owerri, the state capital.

Sorry, but this is nonsense.

What magic are other cities across the world using then?

Even Kigali, Rwanda doesn't build roads without covered drains and sidewalks.

Stop making excuses for incompetent govt.

Close drainage system is good but not effective in Nigeria because we don't have stable electricity. Those subway drainage have underground pumps that evacuates flood. Over the years, those installed in Festac and major cities in Lagos were either stolen, spoilt and rusted away. Also our lack of maintenance structure makes us to opt for sustainable option. There are several developed cities of the world that opt for open drainages as well.

Because Yoruba land is part of Nigeria. If you don't like Igbos to live in Yoruba land, declare Oduduwa Republic now. Lust for proceeds from crude oil and gas in Igbo land and rest of the SS region will not allow you support any declaration of Oduduwa Republic.

Ewu. Go back to school and study. You will learn that the SE contains the highest quantity of natural gas in Africa. You have also been sharing revenues from crude oil in Igbo land all the years. Educated illiterate .

Take up the challenge of declaring Oduduwa Republic so that you will save your territory from the Igbos.

Nobody is disputing the fact that does areas are Abuja suburban...what am trying to say is that you won't find open drainage in Abuja CBD which is mostly refers to as the main city.

There you go again. Noise makers, nothing to show for it. There's not a single natural gas in Igboland.

Again... there's a good reason 80% of you savages run away from your godforsaken jungle to Yorubalands full of milk and honey. cool

Easier said than done.

Gutters or drainage eats up to 60% of road construction cost.

Also, Abuja might have good underground drainage so can therefore have well covered gutters but that is not so for many cities here in Nigeria. The gutter would sooner or later get filled and blocked and then drain garbage would now spill over unto the streets,

The diagram or example you saw there depicts a residential area. I hope you know this before you start talking about CBD and how YOU have made it the main city.

I drop my mic here.

What is this one talking about? Have you actually been to Abuja?
He shouldn't have called you a clown ok but asking the question: "...have you been to Abj" exposed a lot about you.

The picture you showed is an estate. Kubuwa, Nyanya, federal housing lugbe etc are few of many roads in Abj most state roads are far better off than, thank you.
