Good morning naralanders,
I got this apartment August 2022,this morning the landlord brought letter for increment from 850k to 1.2m.I have never experienced such before ,do I just pack out of the house or take it up with him.

The agents in the house ,is that how it is in the tenancy agreement for an increment within 2 years?Prior to this time,the landlord has been adding money to security and psp bill ,thinking we won't know the exact amount,he seems to be an unreasonable wicked human being.

Please advice really needed on what to do next.

Baba....don't get me wrong, I know the increment might be inconsiderate to you as the tenant....but it doesn't change the fact that he has the right to increase the rent charge.....

U either move else where, plead with him that u don't have ......or start vawulence, trust now i have seen vawulence..

This igbo guy said he won't pay my uncle increment and he refused to pay both old charge and the increment.....madt oooo

Well noted,only want know if it's right to increase rent within 2 years of packing in.
My previous house was handled by a lawyer, and he didn't do such until like 7 years.

He can increase at anytime...since he's not a considerate man as u have pointed out and especially with the way things are expensive these days..

like I said u don't know how long he has been running the 850k charge....
U can negotiate with him shaa...he can extend the notice, or reduce the increment value...

My next neighbour I met was paying 700k,when he was about to make payment last year November, the man told him his rent has increased to 900k,then,he came to ask me how much I was paying, I told him 850k and I was even angry the rent was even 700k.Now,he has given both of us the letter for 1.2m .
