How Many Nigeria States Can Afford N70k Minimum Wage? by helinues(op): 9:15am On May 27, 2024
FG, Labour union, Private sectors can agree on what the basic minimum wage should be, the implementation by states in particular is the real big deal.

If Nigeria states are owning salaries for months, if they can be waiting for FG loans to pay N30k minimum wage, which is sometimes ridiculous upon they don't have any tangible things to have shown what they are spending on.

How many states in Nigeria can conveniently pay N70k minimum wage without owning or wait for FG bail out?

Education truly broadens the mind. Speaking food English can never replace a sound education.

Bros have you ever looked at the monthly allocation of states ?

Every single stage can pay even 200k minimum wages from what they received monthly but they choose to steal instead.

My prayer as a patriot is for God to answer the prayers of the labour unions and also give job to the jobless.

That the States are owing salaries doesn't translate to inability to pay. It's just a matter of priority! Why is money available for security votes to the tune of half a billion but not there to pay salary?

If only they are honest, or at least pretend to be, they can pay upward of a 100k

stop displaying your ignorance here, Nigeria states have the capacity to pay workers #200k as minimum wage. You keep on posting false and propaganda articles that doesn’t hold any water. Why can’t you be posting articles on subsidy removal. All the 36 states have the full capacity to pay 200k naira as minimum wage to Nigeria civil servants. You keep on displaying your ignorance here why Nairalanders keep laughing at your propaganda. Tell me how much tinubu and his cronies are cashing out monthly. Abu tell me how much the lawmakers both in the federal level and states level are cashing out monthly. You better wake up here from your slumber. Your propaganda here doesn’t hold any water

Which states have been struggling to pay the N30k present minimum wage? Which governors have been fuming about the possible N70k.

To approve the new minimum wage is not the issue but implementation

How much debts are those states owning? How much are they generating as IGR monthly?
Without the monthly Oyel money, how many states can function properly in Nigeria with our current set of leaders as state governors?

They might have potentials but considering their current state, reasonable of them would struggle to pay N70k as their priorities are always wayward

STATE
Governor Soludo has shown some attitude of not interested in paying the new minimum wage.

Abia Labour Union have given the state government 14days ultimatum or they go on strike.

So many state governors from other regions have also not shown any sign of readiness to pay the new minimum wage

Please if I may ask you a question.
Do you think states like kebbi, sokoto, osun, ekiti, benue, ebonyi , abia etc can pay #200k monthly minimum wages with these current systems of government.

it is people like you that encourage criminality and mediocrity by defending and making case for useless governors.. there is no single state that cant aford 100k minimum as minimum wage, it is becasue they know they have people like you to always defend them causing nuisance everywhere..
i beleive the real enemy of the country is people like you that will go aboe and beyond to defend the useless government and even make case for them.. there is no single thread where you dont go about defending recklessness of the government albeit is a covert method

It's better to be pessimistic about the minimum wage than being optimistic when the state governors can't be trusted. Is it not those who can't pay N30k regularly we are expecting to be paying N70-N100k regularly?

Lagos State, Kaduna State, Osun State, Edo State. Just check budgetIT for much updates on it. It’s your job to do that and not me. Even Edo State under governor obaseki has paid #70k minimum wage for his workers. He promised them and he’s fulfilling his promises already . Ask from the governor you came from. Even governor Dapo Abiodun has been paying #30k minimum wage since 4 years ago. Maybe you should ask around about the minimum wage payment. Nigeria Governor’s have the capacity to pay more than #100k as minimum wage

How many states did you list, how many states do we have in Nigeria?

If majority of them are struggling to pay the basic minimum wage , then it's time to start questioning what they have been doing with all the allocations they have been receiving.

We shift too much unnecessary attention on FG while the state governors are behaving anyhow

you keep mentioning State debts here. You are lazy thinker in APC. You are only protecting your interests in which I understand well. It’s very unfortunate you don’t think and deep longer in the State allocation since the removal of fuel subsidy last year. Like Osun State presently, Osun State collected over 10b naira from FAAC and 3b is been deducted from it cos’ of Fg debt Osun State government owed( Paris loans owned during Aregbesola government and other Fg loans too). From the knowledge I know about Osun State debts, Aregbesola government is the government that incurred huge debts so far in Osun State history. Infact much of these debts are due till 2031, so tell me here, is the government going to focus much on debts payments without focusing on other sectors in Osun State. There’s road infrastructures, Agriculture sector, health, education sector and other sectors in Osun State. Is it not when Osun state government is collecting huge allocation from Fg that the state house of Assembly now proposed huge increases of salary payments to the political office holders in Osun State. You speak with wisdom here and not displaying your ignorance. As it stands, Osun State in SW has the full capacity to pay the workers minimum wage to the tune of 100k or 200k naira. Not to talk of Fg that have over 50% shared allocation monthly. Fg and the states have the capacity to pay the minimum wage the labour are proposing to the state and Fg. At the end of the negotiation, the Nlc will narrow the minimum wage to 200k or 100k . Defend your APC sensibly please.

you are APC lazy thinker here. I said you should make your research on the States that’s paying the 30k minimum wage. As it stands, all the 6 states in the sw are paying the 30k minimum wage presently. Ask the workers in all these states.

If Yaya Bello can play that amount from state purse for his children school fees, then how much would he have cornered to foreign account and other frivolities. Some Nigerians are so dumb fighting for government that there is no money in Nigeria.
No money, you do anything to win election.
No money you budget humongous amount for your frivolous lifestyle.
No money you buy properties in America,Europe and Dubai.
No money, ok leave the position for another person to manage,it becomes war.
Don't be gullible Nigerians. There is money in government. They also borrow to create debts for unborn generation. Wicked leaders

it’s the remaining owed half salaries that Ade dancer is paying now. Per month Ade Dancer received over #7b allocation from Fg apart from debts deducted by the Fg.

no excuse for governors paying the new minimum wage proposed by the Nlc. Get me right and don’t confuse yourself here. A lazy thinker doesn’t talk things well. Check google and make your findings on the monthly FAAC payments to these 36 state governors, you will be surprised and see how they have the capacity to pay the new minimum wage proposed by the Fg. Like I said before, don’t be a lazy thinker, make your findings more before posting your article that’s not justifiable at all.
