They were in Ife for many centuries before migrating to the East.

During their time in Ife, there would have been heavy intermarriage between them and Yoruba people over many centuries.

Therefore MILLIONS of people today in the East who think they are Igbos are actually Yorubas, and they need to go conduct a DNA genealogy test to know their true lineage and origins.

It’s a fair bet that those DNA results will be so shocking to so many of them if they actually did the test.

Some of them might actually be able to reconnect with their long lost relatives in Ife and surrounding regions in Yorubaland.

If it was that recent then there are DEFINITELY millions of Igbos walking around today who are actually Yoruba, and millions of Yorubas walking around without knowing they are actually Igbos!

The govt needs to encourage and even subsidise DNA ancestry testing.

It could destroy tribalism in this country, as many discover their ancestral roots in parts of the country they had previously hated.

Because there was migration across the entire region known today as Nigeria in pre-colonial times.

It wasn't just between Igbo and Yoruba.
