In this case, one can argue that it wasn’t the intentions of his student colleagues to kill him. They just gave him the maximum shishi that is the norm in our society. If the boy was caught in most part of Nigeria or even in Warri, he would have been lynched alive too.

He wouldn’t, had we reoriented our society.

They will have to prove this beyond all reasonable doubts before a judge.

The issue of the deceased being a prince or not is not even important. What matters most is that a presumably innocent young man has been killed by some bloodthirsty idiots. Are we saying that justice should only take its course because he was a prince? Is the life of a non-prince supposed to be worthless?

Prince or no prince, the murderers who killed this chap should be made to face wrath of the law and sentenced accordingly. That horrendous killing tagged ALUU4 comes to my mind readily. We need to put a stop to this madness.

To me this looks like a cult related incident, maybe he refused to join a cult or he has offended the cult boys. The excuse of stealing a mere phone looks like a cover up. Because even if he did steal a phone, other fellow students would have stepped in from to prevent him from being brutalised and the school security would have been alerted.
