Public Admin graduate who, of all things she could do, resorted to prostitution. We all have choices, and our choices come with consequences - good or bad, that we must live with.

With the so-called 'Queen's English' that she can speak, she could've brushed herself up a little, learn the basics of broadcasting and be either a news caster, an OAP or both combined, that's just one of the other possibilities opened to her. But no! She chose prostitution!

There were times when feeding just once a day in Nigeria was a luxury for me, and I never considered armed robbery, or being a G-Boy, or a kidnapper. I've had seasons in my life when I was homeless in Baltimore, yet I didn't resort to stealing people's credit cards, and I didn't push drugs, as common with the homeless folks on the streets.

And I'm an orphan and a graduate too, just like her! Certificate no be everything! When the going gets tough, you have to look inwards and think of possibilities to make a honest living.

We like to say certain conditions made us do certain things, but it was ultimately our choice to do those things.

We must accept the consequences of the choices we make.

Why is everyone evil on Nairaland nowadays?

Why the hate and rude behavior?

I hope you can now see the result of incompetence. Rules broken but no judgment. Now this forum is becoming something else.

First of all, she made a very wrong choice to engage in prostitution. The school teaches morals, wise counsel, diligence, excellence, integrity and service . All of these were taught in school she passed through the school but the school didn't pass through her mind.
If you are still an undergraduate I implore you to learn all.of these things that education teaches you while you are within the four walls of the school. Moreso, are many things to do aside your choice of study or career, such as becoming a teacher in any school. This will make you to impacts young Stars and be grateful afterwards. You can also start hair dressing which is lucrative in some major cities in Nigeria, you can go to parties on Saturday's to tie Gele for 500 Naira per person, you can engage in photography, videography as a profession, and in fact you can actively engaged in social.media, be it running ads, online learning and etc.

I will summarise the rest of my words below :
Without controversy, it should be noted that our choices will make us either a bar of regrets to hold into or return of good memories .

You're not entirely wrong but there's more to it.
How ech person is affected by what one might call similar situations varies.
Doesn't make them "just whores".
I'm not here to say it's right, I'm saying it's almost always more than that.
If i bring 5 ladies who were sexually assaulted, the impact on their life trajectories may be split 5 ways.
You can have one who becomes suicidal and severely depressed, to the point that they kill themself shortly after.
Another person may become extremely submissive to the point that she is defenseless and easily assaulted more times.
Another may bury it and seemingly go on with their normal life.
Yet another may turn to drugs and alcohol to help them forget.
Another may become strongly feminist and completely hateful of men.

The ages and specific circumstances, as well as their underlying personalities determine the various outcomes.

Will i be surprised to find the one that self medicates with drugs and alcohol involved in prostitution? Not really. She likely ended up with nothing but negative influences, from people in that life. Throw in severe poverty and you have a potent mix.

Others may find themselves in the same boat, via other routes.

It is not correct to reduce them to "just whores".

I have a 16yo who currently has no care in the world about being abused. She wants to be involved in orgies and currently believes she's bisexual.
Why? If you say she's "just whoreish" , you've missed the mark.
The answer lies in the individual stories. It takes a lot of patience not to simply cast someone and condemn them to hell. They're human beings and the core, they want a dignified life as much as we the supposedly moral and sane ones

My opinion though, nairaland and the major Nigerian populace don’t deserve your inept and careful analysis of things like this....... we are far too mentally lazy.

Lazy to think rationally and logically give our own quota to national and world issues

Prostitution is a trap. It looks like easy money, but it's not. It commands a vicious grip on the players. They all feel Abuja is a cash cow.

All the earnings from her supposed trade, she couldn't sit down and learn a profitable skill with the proceed ( cooking soups, sewing, wedding make-up etc) and engage it .

You are free to make choices, but you are not free from the consequences of your choices.

Zero skill needed. After a while, you build some. Her future husband should enjoy because — like exercise — continuous copulation builds physical stamina.

Hey abdsamad, I just had to log in to appreciate such uncommon outlook to find on this site.

If I may, I think you're a gem of a person in real life.

Also, don't let widely bandied and often very loud so-called truisms detract you from your mature approach to life.

It's tough out there for many. A little understanding goes a long way.

Cheers.
