anonymuz:It is natural....hey waved flags to it in 1960, sang same during assembly, schools, etc. The exact same way some of us got glued to the new one..... It will take ages to get off it but I know from my history of Nigeria, a Govt will come in and revert to Arise O Compatriots..... |

Ajens1991:The future belongs to the youth and not the elderly that are on their way out. Why should we care if old people love the old anthem because they can't memorise the new one? This country is doomed. Very soon, we will start using the British pound and call back the British to colonise us. |

ClearFlair:Did you read the post and historic newspaper... Open your mind and just read the lyrics, it's more inspiring than the lyrics of Arise O compatriots... At an event today, myself and some colleagues decided to sing the new national anthem Nigeria we hail thee, although I got lost mid way but I was proud... |

fergie001:I agree, if APC lose the government in 2027 or 2031, the anthem will get reversed. Might be akin to the game played by Adeleke over Aregbesola name change for Osun and coat of arm. It can only escape reversal if the next president at any point after Tinubu and subsequent 3 presidents are his allies or align with his school of thought. |

Mosdiii:I think it is a sign of great changes... Some people especially the older generation believed the Arise O Compatriots anthem (old) brought a curse on Nigeria... One thing we can't take away from Tinubu is his boldness... Call him stupid, slowpoke, etc. I would rather follow the bold than those trying to please the crowds... It tells me there is something He is seeing, there is something he wants to get at and he wants Nigeria and Nigerians to see... Our banner shall be a symbol that peace and justice reign... To hand to our children a banner without stain. (powerful Anthem) |

Honoredeblazac:The unfortunate thing about this video is it used one of the most powerful lines of old anthem in it propaganda... "Our banner shall be a symbol..." Well, the old anthem was not imposed on Nigeria get your facts right... |

Ajens1991:Pele omo mummy 1970. Now that your parents are proud of returning their national anthem, there should be a Thanksgiving next Sunday. Just imagine what a young soul is celebrating in the midst of turbulent time we found ourselves. O ga o |

Misplaced priorities. A nation with confused, empty headed leaders. Other nations are occupied with ideas to combat concrete problems on the ground, exploring alternative cleaner energy solutions in place of fuel or future gains of AI and whatnot and here, we've these imbeciles thinking about the wordings of the national anthem. It's just so very sad. |

fatboyslym007:We are loosing hope of a new Nigeria with this kind of you people. How does this nonsense they are doing amount to exploit and boldness? Aregbesola changed Osun motto, designed flag and gave anthem for Osun people, they didn't stop people from suffering. When people are doing what is least expected of them, it is a sign that they are out of idea of doing what is expected of them. Go to your nearby market and tell the market women or students in your closer by government school of the news of new anthem and see what reaction you will get. |

fatboyslym007:Oluwa mi o, 🙆🙆🙆 Inspiration of an anthem is what to Nigerians at this time. Even if you make your money from politics and you have to defend your pay, be sensitive to things happening around you. Will you go and start campaigning the good news of new anthem to market women or students in schools now? |

They want Nigerians to be busy with learning an old and jettisoned national anthem while they move into a new era of propaganda and looting. Apc surely have the most shameless a**licking supporters. Always quick to justify rubbish or provide justification for what they themselves condemned under previous governments. |

| Re: Call For Competition To Compose Nigeria's National Anthem (1960 Throwback) by annyplenty(m): 5:58am On May 30, 2024 |
Ajens1991:Elderly persons loved the old anthem because that was what they were first used to before switching to the new one. At times, switching to something new you have to learn can be challenging. Tell me, how many of the elderly ones can recite the new anthem. This answer is few because they didn't want to switch. Placed side by side, the new anthem is by far superior to the old one, in terms of content and composition and Nigeria' current realities. It talks about the sacrifices of past heroes, it calls for service, it addresses the youth, it asks help from Gof and talks about unity |

What little win my brother? May be God has been good to you that you have all your expectations met, but no matter what you will still see people on the street and the effect of suffering. How is anthem suppose to even get our time if these people are working to see Nigerians having dividend of democracy? |

Johncuppa:My brother we struggle the same struggle, the fact that my patriotism has not allowed me to loose faith in Nigeria (not government) does not mean I collect money from politics... The problem with us my friend is you've lost sight of the most important thing about a nation... Our flag is a symbol, our anthem is our confession, the two are banners we must hand on to our children without stain... My brother though our tribe, tongue, religion, political affiliation may differ... Let's stand together in brotherhood and make Nigeria great again... I don't know what this government have in store, I don't know if they deliberately put us all in hunger but my brother my patriotism would make me believe in handing on to our children a banner without stain... I love you my brother.. |

Johncuppa:I read with tears your submission my brother, you speak like a true freedom fighter of the masses... I have come to realize something, in trying times even those without clue will criticize. I have learnt in my short life journey so far, the loudest voices of blind opposition are actually clueless... When oppositions do not see little wins, when all oppositions see is darkness... They can never lead us to the light because they see darkness... So my brother there are little wins in your life too celebrate them and see the light. You woke up this morning, it's a win, your wife, babe, or side chick, gave you a peck or kiss it's a win. You go work or shop you sold an item on your shelf for 4months it's a win my brother... A beger asked you for money for food and you gave him food it's a win for you and for him/her celebrate your little wins my brother. Together we shall witness Nigeria rise again, in good health in peace and brotherhood we shall hand on the banner of Nigeria without stain... |
