Truth is many communities like mine in Imo state, do not want oil and gas exploration in their communities.....make everyone dey continue hustling through business and education, avoiding the breeding of youths who would be demotivated to work because of handouts those companies will be giving the youths, I prefer youths in my community who are vocationally oriented to continue their shoe making apprenticeship and eventual ownership of shoe making businesses , they have been engaged in, for decades.

igbos hate igbos, and that's why igbos will keep running away from their regions, it's obviously out of envy that some people want to stop another from his planned investment, probably in his hometown or whatever, and so now what doesn't endanger lives? is it the air that we breathe, or the mainroad we cross everyday?

it's better to give them a safety precaution or another site than to stop another man investment, ask yourself if na you how will you feel?

Africans need tough hands. Wetin concern papa eating chewing stick or youths playing draft with gas plants. Except the owners cut corners by indulging in sharp practice over the approval. Until then everybody there should keep quiet. Later you will come and be looking for jobs in oil companies probably as a gate man. Africa needs a new pathway!

Regardless of what the community say ... permission should never be given for a gas plant near to a residential community. The Governor should've been meeting with the EPA and whatever agency is responsible for the safety of residents.

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

The community was not engaged. One or two persons
cannot represent a community. The community was not involved from day 1. The community got to know one or two days to the day they dug the foundation. The community was never part of it.

Reason I am not interested in the exploration of oil and gas in my community in Imo state.....it will make the people lazy, the young ones will not be motivated to study nor learn vocational skills...they would want "free money"

The best safety is to site the gas plant away from densely populated areas. I know that the owners want to site the project in the present location in order to maximise profit, but the long time risk is too highband should not be ignored. I wouldn't be surprised, if some government and community leaders have been compromised. They approval should never have been given.
