I remember way back in 2010, 2011 and 2012, I used to think that the People's Democratic Party(PDP), was the worst thing to happen to Nigeria. Boko haram was the only insurgency and had just started in the NE, Dollar got to N100 for the first time, a litre of petrol jumped from N65 to almost N100, a bag of rice crept up to N4,500. I thought it could not get any worse. Little did I know that years down the Road, much worse was going to come under APC.

Back then, the South East I come from was one of the most peaceful places in the country, not a single armed group existed anywhere there. Beyond the occasional herdsmen attack in parts of Enugu and Ebonyi, there was no insecurity in the SE

Today, we have gunmen in the South-East, Boko haram in the North East, ISWAP in the North West, killer herdsmen in the NC and increasing militancy in the SS. Nigeria has become world poverty capital and 8th most insecure country on earth. Almost 80% of Nigeria is suffering one security challenge or the other. The entire security architecture has been overwhelmed and its just a matter of time before the gunmen outnumber the military

A combination of economic, political, ethnic and religious issues has created insurgency everywhere, creating a security nightmare. Every year, more men take up arms, more people are killed, more lives are destroyed. But the worst is that very few people are interested in coming together to find what will bring peace, because they believe the military will save the day. Yet insecurity worsens, the economy worsens, society fails. If the military could make Nigeria peaceful, they would have done it a long time ago

I don't think any of us will ever see a peaceful Nigeria, those days are gone forever
