Notional Anthem in which we beg God to come and help us build a nation where no man is oppressed. So funny FG that want us to sing that song is overseeing the oppression of civil servants by stalling on reasonable minimum wage of 2 times the current pay when they rolled out policies which effect has led to over 400% increment in prices of everything. |

What shall we say to these things? Back and forth here and there. Anyways, I am of the opinion that reverting to the old anthem is not the right way to go. Who goes back to the remnants of colonialism? At best, the legislation could have been passed to compose a new anthem entirely for the country. I just saw someone talk about the old English of the newly readopted anthem. That's another cause for concern. Going back to that in this modern times shows that our leaders are disconnected from reality. They did not consider the evolution of the English language at all. |

NOTE THIS! We perceive that pretty soon, when and/or if the 'NEW' National Anthem is being played, Nigerians will opt for & start singing "ARISE O COMPATRIOTS!" Why, becos against the sagacious advice of the AG, to widely Consult/engage Nigerians, the lawmakers decided to sideline millions of Nigerians that voted them & got it passed & assented to with immediate effect& alacrity! Consequently, Nigerians will from today, start singing or chanting "ARISE O COMPATRIOTS!", when "Nigeria! We hail thee..." is being played! The Lady who wrote THE ALL HAIL used "Motherland" because of their Queen Elizabeth then for similarity/comradeship purpose, But a Naija person changed it to Our Fatherland. Today, their King is Charles & they say God bless The King, NOT God bless the Queen! Naija, this reverse to colonial mentality must stop! [b]This is a short-sighted viewpoint from Farouq Kperogi.  Anybody who stops to think a little would realise that “Nigeria We Hail Thee” is indeed the right National Anthem for the times we’re in. Presently, we have unending IPOB agitation, Yoruba threat of secession, etc, to grapple with, which shows that the nation has not been more divided since after the Civil War ….what better time to remind the citizenry that: Though Tribe and tongue may differ, in Brotherhood we stand?! We also have the japa syndrome whereby many Nigerians would rather go into slavery in distant lands than join in the effort to contribute their quota in building and strengthening their own “Native Land” (not foreign Lands). What better time to try to instil the consciousness of nationhood and nationalism in the populace?! The first stanza of that Anthem speaks volumes and Thank Heavens that the majority of our representatives in the National Assembly saw it as such and they voted the right way! Kudos to them all.
