Tinubu Once Told Me If He Put A Goat In Charge Of Lagos As Governor For Next 25 Years, It’ll Still Progress —Okupe

The former opposition party chieftain argued that the structures built by Tinubu in Lagos are responsible for the continued socioeconomic development in the state, regardless of who is in charge as the governor.

The former Director General of Peter Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe, has said that President Bola Tinubu once boasted that even if he puts a goat in charge of Lagos State as governor for the next 25 years, the state will continue to progress.

Mr Okupe said this when he was featured on a Channels TV programme on Thursday evening, saying Tinubu said this to him during a visit to his house some years ago, before he became Nigeria’s president.

The former opposition party chieftain argued that the structures built by Tinubu in Lagos are responsible for the continued socioeconomic development in the state, regardless of who is in charge as the governor.

He said, “Let me tell you something I have not shared before. It is not even surprising. On the 21st of March, 2022, I was at that time running for president myself under PDP, if you remember.

“I said if Bola Tinubu wins the primary, he will do well. And perhaps he would be the second-best person to me. That is what I said because I know the gentleman. I have not seen Bola Tinubu in seven years. Maybe I spoke to him on the telephone and that is all.

“One day in Bourdillon, on a Saturday morning, I drove by his house, and by strange coincidence, there was nobody in the house. It was just him.

“We spoke for three hours and that was the day I changed my mind about Tinubu. He told me and he showed me the master plan for Lagos. He said if we put a goat as governor from now till the next 25 years, nothing but progress will happen to Lagos.”

The President is known as the political godfather in Lagos State whose endorsement automatically determines who takes charge of the state.

If you doubt me, why is Ogun state doing so badly in comparison, what about Ondo, Osun and Ekiti? Let them develop like Lagos and we will know he made a good move in Lagos.

And strangely enough Obi beat him in the same Lagos despite MC intimidations, mobilization of okada and keke riders, ballot snatchings, pronouncements and threats by Lagos traditional rulers. Despite all that Obi still beat him, and beat him badly. Beat him in Abuja too - couldn't get 20%!!
