Breaking News: The wife of Late Major General Philip Effiong, Mrs. Josephine Effiong is dead. Josephine Effiong was the wife of General Philip Effiong, the first Vice-President and the second President of the Republic of Biafra from 1967-1970. Late Ma Josephine Effiong, 88, wife of Obong (Major General) Philip Efiong Akankang Ibiono-Ibom (18 November 1925 - 6 November 2003) who was the first Vice President and the second and last President of the Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970. He served meritoriously until the last minute with General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Her maternal ancestry is Igbo from Ukwuani area in Delta State while her paternal ancestry is Welsh from Wales, UK. She married Philip Effiong from Ibiono Ibom in Akwa Ibom State in 1956.
