At the time it deviated there was at least one other main Christian movement. Throughout history, there have always been other movements that saw catholism as deviation.

Regarding the image you mentioned, the deity you referred to seems to answer the prayers of its worshippers more quickly and readily compared to Jesus that requires substantial financial contributions and extensive prayers for even the smallest request. It's important not to disparage believers of other religions. Let them continue to believe in what they choose, and you should do the same.
