As in, what even caused it was that their ATM card has been deactivated. I would have withdrawn it since
Chai! But why did nobody make any noise ?

A bank’s ATM deactivated , their USSD not working and Mobile app not working . That means the bank died months ago , but they are only doing window dressing .

This CBN revoking their license is just like a doctor finally certifying an already brain-dead person dead .

If NLC has truly cut off NASS water supply, then I can start taking them seriously..

Shut down everywhere, if it's possible, all airports in the country too..

Money no dey, money no dey, #90bn fall out immediately for nonsense..
So those that have emergency meetings or medical emergencies should die at home or be stranded?

They should kuku cut off telecoms join for maximum impact.

This is the more reason why FG must quickly respond to NLC.

FG removed subsidy on May 29 2023 and they promised the minimum wage will be reviewed and things will be better in a short while. A year after FG has not fulfilled their promise . If NLC don’t do something drastic , the FG will keep playing games with them .

At least this turning off of national grid is for a valid reason . Have u forgotten the national grid was turned off when some electricity senior workers didn’t want to take promotion exams but get promoted ; Yet FG yielded

Subsidy has never been the issue , it is CORRUPTION . Whether we have oil or oil dries up tomorrow , so far corruption reigns supreme in this country things will always go wrong .

In spite of the how bad we may think subsidy was ; it was subsidy regime monies for projects like Ajaokuta were provided but corruption is the reason why the project has perpetually been a cost center .

Nigeria is not the only country in the world that has some forms of subsidy for its citizens . I don’t like it when people try to make it seem like subsidy was the problem .
How much do you think is lost yearly to corruption and to subsidy. Subsidy breeds corruption.
Giving people employment letter and salary without any defined job role is also a form of subsidy which is exploited and leads to corruption

In your private companies how come we barely hear of ghost workers or people taking salary and not showing up to work

Its the idea that govt owes us something, prints free money and should be sharing all over, Free housing, Monthly allowance, free car, free transport, free Hajj, free dowry, free land as long as we are born

An average citizen believes by being born Nigeria already owes us a soft life without doing much, and inability to do that means its a failure

Blueraydick is this subsidy or corruption? This IMO is an example of subsidy mentality breeding corruption. If there was no awoof mony make Zamfara use taxes collected from farmers to send elite to Hajj and lets see the outcome

I have never supported govt sponsoring anybody to pilgrimage and neither do I support govt sending people abroad on scholarship.

As someone else noted on twitter. Where have all these people been when doctors and medical workers have been going on strike?

This is what NLC should have even done when subsidy was removed. If they had, it won't matter if minimum wage is only increased to 40,000.

You are conflating issues. We are discussing government putting subsidy in place for essentials and not frivolities like Hajj, sponsoring mass weddings, etc.

U should watch that video itsrm posted. The man mentioned how during Jakande era there were LMTS card which people used as bus pass on govt owned transport system at subsidized rate. He said it is similar to the oyster card being used in London.

I am strong advocate of the government restructuring the civil service both at the state and federal level, automate systems and eliminate the inefficiencies in the system. In my workplace u clock-in with ur biometrics, no HR will be chasing u about to know whether u turned up for work or not. The HR just need to query the biometric system and they know the number of days they are to pay u at the end of the day.

These things are possible as well in the civil service but we know it won't be done because the power in government always appoint their friends and families to head these agencies who will then recruit their distant friends and families into the civil service whom are the ones collecting salaries while being ghost workers.

A reasonable and realistic subsidy program for basic needs is not a bad idea. If u watch the video, u will hear the man alluding the urge for people to buy their own houses, cars, etc being the reason why some civil servants and those in the public sector to steal. My dad was already a home owner in his 30's simply because Jakande made available low-cost housing estate mortgage system available. Those are the kind of subsidy that will go a long way to help the people over time

The thing is most Nigerians are oblivious of some realities happening in this very naija that we live in.

I remember the last doctors strike when we had an appointment at LASUTH, that was the first time I understood how terrible doctors strike can be and yet govt just gloss over it. People on admission were literally left unattended. Those of us that brought our patients from home had to take them back and wait indefinitely till the strike was called off. U can't see specialists even for the most threatening conditions that required urgent medical care.

Why? So electricity and hospital are essential infrastructure, lots of people need both to survive.

Labor should shut down govt office and secretariat.

How the electricity wan take affect politicians wey dey house? No be me and you go suffer ham? Abi no be common man dey our hospital dey.

Do u know the rate at which people die during doctors' strike when there's no war ?

I am not saying that the people should be allowed to die, but it has been proven over time that the only way to get FG's attention is to force their hand in this manner. The government has been insincere and less commital on this minimum wage issue since the past one year.

If NLC don't take some of these critical measures, the strike will just go the way of every other strike since the last few years of Buhari till this moment. The strike will just die down and everybody will continue the way things are. While flogging NLC for taking an extreme position, you should also flay FG for their own failures too

What are some of these essentials. Go to Zamfara and they will tell you Hajj to Mecca is a bigger essential than water supply

What your dad got was not a subsidy unless he didn't pay back. It's basically mortgage or in local parlance hire purchase. He surely paid the full amount back with interest

That transport busses must be profitable from the fares otherwise it will crumble one day.

E get reason why Young shall grow is almost 30yrs in business while some state transport service barely last 5yrs

Air peace has done more or flown more people in the last 12months than the foolish Nigerian airways in the last 20yrs

Any subsidy based consumption plan will eventually run out of money because it's not sustainable

It's like a young man who hit from yahoo, and used his money to buy gwagon and make life soft for himself and his family today hoping that the yahoo inflow will continue vs another person wey hit from yahoo and used the hit to invest into a legit business

One day yahoo earnings begin dey dwindle the man who has bloated his spending go dey whine while the one wey invest into legit business go move on and soon people won't even know the origin of his wealth was yahoo

Oil is our yahoo. Free gift

Since morning I've been flaying the govt for their own nonsense. I am 100% in support of strike. Infact if you remember our discussion about Ajaero some weeks back, I said NLC suppose don shut down the country.

Shut down the country but leave critical infrastructure like power and hospitals alone. It's a no brainers.

We are actually at war with the FG.
Its how you choose to look at it.
The workers have graded their grievance to be on the highest scale and they are showing it hence the numerous support NLC and TUC is getting.
. Question is, do you think the anger of workers is also justified for this reaction?

It is literally this same line every Apc goons are spreading on all social media platform.

The same basic rubbish.

Are hospitals supposed to be under national grid ?, or like this strike was something sudden like it couldn't be prevented ?, or you would have suggested Nepa shouldn't have joined the strike or should have joined but to leave the supply on & unattended to so they will return to blown equipments & stations. So whose fault is it ?

It in this same country under the rule of this same party that Residents doctors went on strike for 4 months in 2021 I am sure you didn't care about the people affected then, it is suddenly now that you care.

Like it is the issue, honestly Nigerian politicians will never change when we they have people like you, always present to write rubbish think pieces.

Lets be honest.
How many times in the last 1yr national grid Don collapse?
You can say it won't affect the politicians and that might be true but if the FG gives into the demands, then this process worked.

I personally believe it affects politicians too.

Grind the economy to a halt, shut down the port where they are getting money, ensure no tanker load oil, that's how you hurt them where it hurt them the most - money.

We can excuse the general public who don't know better. But those who do and have kept quiet all these while when doctors were slaving away should maintain the same energy.

You can't suddenly remember patients you never cared about when doctors have been going on strike
