A political union is making outrageous demands and yet people are supporting them just out of spite for the government of the day.

Politics should always follow economics but looks like it is otherwise and people are just being played to the gallery.

Under what Iterations can the revenue of the country sustain those silly numbers. An extremely poor country by every economic, fiscal and revenue metric

People should readily make sacrifices but one which is worthy. Not being used to further some barbed agenda.
At what point are Nigerians expected to stop making sacrifices and start enjoying?

It seems we're just about the only citizens in the world that are born to make sacrifices..

There's a reason I typically stay away from politics/political discussions generally despite having strong convictions; It tends to attract the dregs of the society and this is worldwide over.

Fat-tailed morons who do not have a mind of their own and regurgitate all the tosh and garbage world over. Zero comprehension capacity, yet loudest in the room without any substance.

What I dont shy away from however is economy, finance, data and numbers because then there wont be room for semantics and the numbers will always come back and stare you in the face. And then it wont be easy to just rely on innuendos but rather solid hard facts

Even the dead in Atan Cemetery knows that 495k is laughable.

But 60k is way too small..

In January 2023, we were buying fuel at 187. Today it is 670

Just imagine the percent increase in inflation.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by liveLongNprospa(m): 6:51pm On Jun 03, 2024
How much COS Femi budget for running him office again?
200billion naira.
It rose from 20+billion to 200billion naira in just 1 year.
Lmaooo.. You people should be grateful you got mostly calm idiots as citizens 😂

This 670 is in Lagos.
This is best case scenario.

In places outside Lagos, fuel na constant of 750-800

Govt continues to borrow money to fund the lavish expensive lifestyle of the political class, but it is the suffering masses that should continue to make sacrifice. The same Tinubu that removed subsidy on petrol, Education and electricity, approved ₦90b to subsidize hajj pilgrimage. Our polithiefcians can buy ₦150m SUVs for themselves and partners, Fly private jets, use taxpayers money to fund their children's education abroad. Budgetry allocation for Gbajabiamila's office alone is ₦20b and somebody is saying NLC living wage demands are unrealistic.

So what happens to the civil service if all workers quit and go into business? Are their no govt workers in foreign countries?
Perhaps, when a great number quit, the government may reconsider the wage without having to be jolted by a strike.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TrebleChamp(m): 7:19pm On Jun 03, 2024
See what our legislooters earn monthly, but NLC living wage demand is unrealistic. How is a broke country able to pay polithiefcians this crazy salaries?

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 7:22pm On Jun 03, 2024
APC government gives a more coherent response to the strike.

between 60k and 90K will be realistic but when you are asking for 500K shows they just want outrage

Beyond affordability, Interestingly, most people do not realize that the minimum wage affects all and not just the government.

People with drivers, maids or any form of employ under you must earn at least that minimum.

Are they willing to comply? or will they do what is and has long been predicted by neoclassical economics - which is to let go of the employee.

If the government and private sector simply were to follow the same logic - productivity/value must be in tandem with revenue - Good luck to the unemployment rate. Guess who would mostly be impacted - the very vulnerable people

Everything is politics to people, meanwhile, it is your life and earnings/affordability that is at stake here. Parroting crap and looking for corn in people's pocket without a fundamental understanding of your economy will probably solve it for you

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by OasisX: 8:25pm On Jun 03, 2024
grin

.....I heard PBAT, Shettima, Gbaja and co are presently lying on mats outside the Villa cos heat is becoming unbearable as a result of National Grid shutdown by NLC/TUC Members.

Those selling frozen foods shouldn't bother with their stocks, in case they spoil, its a worthy sacrifice for this struggle.

Any business(es) that requires steady power supply should kindly fillup tanks of their generators, they should also join in the struggle for a better Nigeria.

National Grid shouldn't be restored until after atleast a week. Let PBAT and others suffer the heat as well.

Aluta Continua!!!!

The problem is not just FG at this point, it is state government and organized private sector, those 2 stakeholders are part of the minimum wage committee and I doubt even organized private sector will accept 100k. Job losses go yapa.
