The WAR against hamas is not a conventional type of warfare, asymmetric warfare is being fought in Gaza, an insurgent type of warfare, even the best and most advanced military will struggle against such a type of foe.
The USA strode against the Iraqi army the largest and advanced military at that time in the middle East,but struggled against the Taliban in Afghanistan

The Soviet union fought well against the greatness modern fighting force the NAZI Germans in ww2 and prevail, yet struggle and conceded defeat against the mujahedeen in Afghanistan

The USA fought the Japanese in the pacific and prevail, yet lost a war against a guerrilla north Vietnam army

The Nigeria amry was instrumental in the liberation of Liberia, yet is struggling against boko haram

I do understand but you should consider that the idf has faced Hamas several times in the past and have developed training methods for these exact kinds of battles over decades now

Secondly, a leaked US intelligence report has shown that due to israel's mass killings and destruction of Gaza, Hamas and other groups have gained thousands of recruits during the course of the war, so israel's war strategy itself is incompetent

Thirdly, the US warned israel on alienating the civilian population in this kind of warfare, but they chose not to listen and believed their own hype of being 'god's unbeatable army'. The US would have done better than israel is doing in Gaza because they would have tried to win over the civilians and tried to alienate Hamas, as well as institute a process of transition...israel has done none of such

Instead, the war has so far been a political disaster, military failure, PR disaster, diplomatic disaster, almost a total disaster for israel's image and standing in the world
