Bankowner:
Tell people to go into farming now, they'll tell you you want to bring them back to the stone age. Even if it is for subsistence, you can plant the following:

1. Pepper
2. Tomato
3. Okro
4. Vegetables
5. Yam
6. Corn (in season)
7. Cocoyam
8. Plantain
9. Banana
10. Pawpaw
If not for Malaria that has held me down, I would have continued planting fruits in my compound and site. I have planted guava and bananas already. Pawpaw and plantain on my mind too. I love mangoes but the size of mango trees is discouraging me from planting Mango.

Bankowner:
It was self-fulfilling harvesting these crops back in 2020. I had yams that my family ate for a long while. I harvested pepper when I needed it, same as okro and corn.
That's amazing to hear, So are you still on the farming level or you stopped?

When you talk of investors, what do you mean?

What is the difference between water yam and white yam?
And why do you prefer white yam?
Thugnificent:
Went to the Market today to buy some Yam and other seedlings. Was only able to buy water yam as the price of white yam seedlings is off the roof and way above my budget. God help us all 🙏

Re: My Farming Journey (pictures) by Love800(m): 7:08am On Jun 08, 2024
All together on one mould?
Thugnificent:
You could plant multiple seedlings at once and prevent obstructions. My own case yam, maize, potatoes, ugu, okra and cassava will all be planted on each mould cool

Love800:
What is the difference between water yam and white yam?
And why do you prefer white yam?
Water yam is softer and lighter than white yam and has lesser starch. Also, white yam is more in demand and sweeter and more preferable for poundo and also more expensive. Apart from this, no much noticeable difference.

Love800:
When you talk of investors, what do you mean?
I mean people that can invest in the business and we share the profits or a soft loan with reasonable time frame for repayment etc
Re: My Farming Journey (pictures) by Thugnificent(op): 7:12am On Jun 08, 2024
Love800:
All together on one mould?
Yes exactly. No problem with that or what do you think the mould is for and the expended energy used in making them?
Re: My Farming Journey (pictures) by Love800(m): 7:14am On Jun 08, 2024
Hello. Pls i want to ask a question. Can one buy a full tuber of yam and cut into pieces to plant?
ObiaboAdoka:
Ok. But d bigger d seedling more yield u will harvest
Re: My Farming Journey (pictures) by Love800(m): 7:16am On Jun 08, 2024
You planted these in sacks?
Bankowner:
I know how productive it is because I did it during the pandemic. I harvested yam, corn, pepper, vegetable, and okro that lasted my family for days. I didn't have to bother about those items when it came to grocery shopping. And the vegetable, pepper, and okro were farm fresh too.

This is not actually true.

The heap or how loamyis the soil (and rich in the right nutrients, of course) goes along way to determine the size of your harvest.
Experiment had been carried out, let me check if I can share some resources on this

Modified :
The concept is called Yam sett
