Very soon people like you will be asking if it's by force to eat garri undecided

That over there in your house you've been eating sand and heaven hasn't fallen because you like it's taste as an alternative cry

Please next time learn to ONLY SPEAK FOR YOURSELF
Respect other people's opinions Sir, I'm sure that guy wasn't speaking for your village people but himself. Yes, egg is not very important because there are many more alternatives to egg than garri. Besides, I wonder how many eggs a grown man would consume as a meal.

If a farmer decides to sell a crate of egg for 10k over 105k minimum wage it's up to him. Remember, sentiment doesn't determine commodity price but demand and supply. Before our very eyes, bag of satchet water was increased to N500, they thought they had justification for their new price until demand humbled them to the current N300 per bag.

SmartyPants:
Increased spending power = increased demand for goods and services = increased prices for goods and services. Its logical.
Increased demand for goods and services should lead to more hands or labour to cultivate foodstuffs.

We should not be applying the old Economics or Law or demand and supply.

It should lead to growth in the market sector as there would be influx of sellers.

Egg now is 170 Naira
Custard of garri is 4000 Naira
Increasing minimum wage is not the solution,
Reduce fuel price to 100 Naira per liter
Increase power supply
Scrape out 1000, 500 and 200
Naira note.
Our Economists should advise the politicians on the right path to go .

This is propaganda from FG,

the Egg farmer has forgotten that feed sellers too will alsi show him atarodo peper with feed prices, then the maize farmers, wheat farmers, the groundnut farmers too will too their prices
If he sells his eggs, 10k+, men go enter farming and sell for 3,800. Guess who loses? Story.

Enough of the blackmail.

It works both ways. If there is a greater demand for Awara (whatever it is), the price of eggs would fall.
The egg seller will be forced to reduce his price to remain competitive.
That's in rare cases, economic theories and principles rarely work here. Sellers will rather store the egg somewhere till serious buyers shows up.And again egg also has other purposes it serves aside for consumption, bakers, people into cosmetic products also buy in large quantity so there will always be demand for it.

In Naijay-Area, those at the top are just using the people's brain.

NLC & co say they're fighting to increase minimum wage so that workers and other mumu masses can praise them.

But the NLC & co know that it won't change a thing.

Price of things will keep going higher, and when will they ask for increase in minimum wage again?

That will be after several years even when Tinubu must have left seat. Pure water by then must have been N100.

They're about to enrich further those who collect money on several ghost workers

Let's tackle the main problem which is transparency and corruption!!!

I hope those idiots dont call this queen agbado.

My brother, I have started using a water filtering system in my place for almost 18 months now. No more sachet water. And guess what? I've saved close to 100k+ (I've already subtracted cost of maintaining the filtering system, washing the tank) and also saved the environment from polyethylene waste.

Sometimes, i feel nobody thinks past their own selfish wants in this country.

That’s elementary economics, even though too exhorbitant.

The farmer too deserves minimum wage.

Until we as Nigerians will begin to use our brains and see that the war is between them and us - politicians and the masses; selfish leaders and impoverished followers; self-serving politicians and technocrats!

Shouldn't Labour be focused on asking our leaders to reduce their cost of governance? A sitting Senator takes home #30million+ home monthly in allowances.

Mr. Labour, what is the minimum wage of an average Senator? When you find out, let me know if that sits well with you. Otherwise, you're just a puppet of the same government trying to amuse the mass audience

So, I myself that loves eggs, that eat it at least 5 times a week you won't respect my own opinion and decision that eggs is too expensive and I have no other alternative here in the south? You mean I should give up my love for eggs and start to be importing a so called 'agwarra' from the north for I and my family to start eating because the price of my beloved eggs has gone up? undecided

Sorry, I just want to follow your thought process as best as I can so I can respond to you appropriately sad

Silly man. He intends increasing the price of eggs not because of cost of production but because of increased minimum wage of less than 100 dollars.

I don't know why many silly Nigerians think 100k is big money?

Says a wise man. For me, I located the FCT Water Board close to my office in maitama, I get my water free from source, fill up my dispenser bottles at home and off we go. Remember, at no cost.

Who lose?

I will also increase my tutorial college from 5k to 12k. It's as simple as that. Private teachers are demanding for nothing less than 800 naira per hour even with 30k minimum wage

Here in the north, some northerners are using awara in place of meat and fish. I have eaten it and I can testify it makes sense.

But wait a while, where were the governors when Tinubu said he was committed to paying above 60000k?

The governors should have even motivated Tinubu, but run "rogue regime" in their various states.

It's simple market principle at play. Who will increase the wages of the informal sector?

Let's not forget that the people on the informal sectors too also approach the same market, the same hospital, pays the same electricity bills, buy fuel at the same rate and their children attends the same schools.

Everything has to shift accordingly.

I dont understand ur post honestly.
Can you state it again in a clearer form.
Goodmorning sir.
Rex211:
Comments here are very funny sha. When the minimum wage is increased, you lot will still expect the farmer to increase the wage paid to his workers whilst expecting him to maintain same price thus maintaining same profit made on sales. How do you lots even think in this country. Erryman just dey think of his own basic needs without critically analysing what will favour errybody.

Total profit made when minimum wage was 30k was 100k
Pays his two workers 60k, takes 30k himself and plows back 10k into the business.

Later your increase the minimum wage to 60k and you expect him to maintain the same 100k profit ??
Una normal for this country sef ??

Farmers have progressively increased price of egg from the amount per crate when minimum wage of N30k was implemented 6 years ago till the same price per a single egg today.
The business man didn't take that into consideration and pity workers. If he failed to do what he said thunder will fire him. I want to see how egg the take rot self.
