If the earliest Christians within the first two centuries after Jesus did not need a New Testament to qualify their faith, why do modern Christians have such a need? If they did not sanction or consider any other writing beside the Old Testament to be scripture, then isn’t it a digression from the ‘true faith‘ of the earliest believers to incorporate something new as scripture?

The Scriptures isn't about what one prophet did or how God dealt with the nation of Israel rather it's about the continuous history of how God brought obedient mankind out of Adamic sin through the ransom sacrifice of so don't be surprised that in the New system of things more books will be included as scriptures until God declared that we can live forever!

besides God transcend religion, Jesus isn't about religion. you need the same scripture you question to answer your question.
God Almighty, Jesus and the scripture are basically spiritually as such you don't expect to solve spirituality with the physical.

As a former Muslim i perfectly understand where he's coming from, in the religion any question their clerics raise will be huge in their minds as if that is what they can use to condemn the Bible but then honest hearted and sincere individuals among them knows that something is wrong when you can't preach and teach what your faith says except having to trail other religions!

If all the religions are to start speaking against one another instead of presenting what they have how do think this world will be?

Books were written and the Author which you and i know is God inspired the writers to pen it down that some religions are false.
So it's left for us to figure out the only true religion not the false nah!

Take for instance if you find yourself in a place where dollars is the currency in circulation and you heard or realized that there are lots of fake dollars in town is it features of the fake you will want to study or that of the one and only original?

The same applies to religion. There are thousands of religions all claiming they're from God it makes no sense studying or talking about all the fake religions as it won't help any right thinking person as you don't have all the time in the world to study all the fake religions the only way to benefit yourself and those close to you is knowing all the features of the original so after knowing the features of the one and only original any one not having the same features is FAKE.

Jesus in Matthew 5:17 did mention no religious book directly but mentions the law of Moses and writings of the Prophets!

The first New Testament was codified and canonized by the heretic Marcion who believed that the Jewish YHWH was not the true God, the first time the largest Christian Church sanctioned a New Testament was during the 2nd Ecumenical Council of Carthage in 397 CE, some 360+ years after Jesus.

Each religion is backed by one powerful spirit or another so the worshipers act in line with all the desires of these spirits.

If you're intelligent you should know that each religion can only be active in what the spirit is doing.
Jesus commanded his disciples saying:

Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things! Matthew 28:19-20

All these different religions with contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines claiming Jesus is with them but which religion is ACTIVE globally in what Jesus said here?

That's how to know the spirit in each religion!

- Acts 2:38: "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'"
- Acts 8:16: "Because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus."
- Acts 10:48: "So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days."
- Acts 19:5: "On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus."
