You guys are too funny. You do not even understand the economy at all.
The poultry business will crash completely if the owner does not meet up with cost of production and sales. While Awara becomes the replacement and new meat and egg. Boom, Awara becomes very expensive and take over the price of meat and eggs. At the end everybody starts from scratch and everything goes back to square one.
Does what you wrote make sense to you?
Awara is much cheaper than meat and egg now. Why isn't it taking over already.

Bro, you can see the illiterates we share a country with. In fact I was praying for govt to agree to NLC's 400k demand so that I will watch and laugh at the suffering that it will cost. When people are buying a loaf of bread for 20k we go hear am.
I Can Still Remember When My Friend In Secondary School in 1995 Told Me That From The Year 2000, There Will Be No Illiterate In Nigeria Any More, But There Will Be A Very Large And Unprecedented Number Of Educated Illiterate In Nigeria.
Most Nigerians Are Illiterates In All Spheres. Well Let Us Be Watching, They Will All learn by Force.

You can increase your egg price no problem.with the increase in Minimum wage I will have money to buy layers myself so that why going to work my layers lay egg that will make me compete with you and force your price down
Very funny...you think those selling layers will keep their prices low for you to buy ? cheesy

Anyone smart should buy non-perishable items like generator, TV etc that you have been contemplating.

The moment minimum wage is implemented...all hell will break loose.

But how will this thing increase inflation?
When govt increase wages so drastically, how will private entities be able to increase the wages of their staff? They can only do so by also increasing the price of products and services. This leads to a cascading effect where all goods and services increases to fit the new wages. It's basic economics.

Always dancing around the problem.
I said it here last week, this is the conversation on street traders lips, who will increase there take home profits?

... The solution is simple, why fix what's not broken. Return fuel prices back! and tackle other sectors hf the economy.

Thank God we all can see, FUEL RULES NIGERIA. YOU MESS WITH HER, U PAY GOOD
This is honestly the core of the problem. Fuel prices and availability. Reduce fuel prices and the prices of the other goods will fall accordingly.

undecided if we talk now they Wil say we worship the whites. Why wud a country be using the same template for minimum wage. USA uses different templates for minimum wage same as in Germany. My sister in Indiana told me their own minimum wage is $12 per hour while in California it's $16. It shows that each state pays it's own minimum wage based on it's economy potential. But in Nigeria the govt is fixing same minimum wage for a worker in Ekiti or zamfara and the ones in Lagos or Rivers. C'mon. Let each state fix it's own minimum wage. But before that can be effective,we must return to Regional govt.

Mk we dey play dey go until then.
This is dumb sha. America has a minimum wage for the whole country. That's the minimum any state or employer must pay. Each state will them use that as the minimum base to set their own minimum wage. Thus states can go higher but not lower.

Why are Nigerians not getting this simple idea?

If National mInimum wage is N60k, lagos can set its own to N100k, Ogun and Oyo 80k, Osun 70 k, while Ekiti will be the 60k, which is the minimum acceptable, due to their peculiar economic realities.

How many banks pay minimum wage? They pay higher.

Nigerians need to up their IQ if they want to contribute to public discourse

Where do you expect him to see the money to increase your salary?
Don't worry, be clapping for labour, as soon as minimum wage is increased you will see the result everywhere.
I don't get, you want minimum wage to be 30k forever?

I have been looking at gym equipment... looking at a generator for my 2nd house...

Been dragging my feet, but this weekend, want to place the order for gym stuff. Unfortunately for me, the generator has to wait till end of the month and to be honest, I am really scared what can happen at that time.

The moment Tinubu removed fuel subsidy, I rushed to petrol ⛽️ station, filled my tank, bought AC, fridge, generator and other electronic equipment as backup for the ones that are failing.

Those same things are 2x their prices now ...if not more.

You don't want him to increase egss to 10k?

When he has to pay minimum wage salaries of 105k??

Where do you people want him to get the money to pay the workers salaryhuh

People tend to forget that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Oga I just gave you the most basic economic theory. You don't seem to have any understanding of economics or even eggs. What do you think is the shelf life of eggs?
Again, if you keep storing eggs while your chickens keep laying, there will be an egg glut and you will be forced to sell at a much lower price.
For you to think that increase in competition causes a reduction in price is a rear economic theory, it shows you don't understand.
Theoretically you made a valid point but what I mean is economic theories work here(Nigeria) in rare cases. Price will rather remain constant till price of substitute level up. Let me give you a case study, some month back, people were complaining rice was expensive, then people switch to cheaper alternative like beans and yam and garri but today, beans is now more expensive even though the price of rice didn't drop drastically.
Back to the egg issue, egg has a composite demand, different people buy egg for different reason aside consumption and most time demand outweighs supply.

If he does this Government will step in to exercise price control policies. Then flood the market with foreign eggs. The local farmers will suffer it in the end.

Here in the north, some northerners are using awara in place of meat and fish. I have eaten it and I can testify it makes sense.
What is awara?

It's obvious lot of people don't understand economics and have no experience how people run businesses.

Workers washed makes part of the running cost, if those wages increase, my running cost will increase too and my profit will do down or even enter losses, the options are two, reduces numbers of workers meaning more people wil be unemployed or Increase the cost of your product to cater for the increase in wages.

Previously, increase in fuel prices and increase in cost of importing raw materials were the major factors that lead to Increase in inflation, a significant increase in workers salaries will also increase inflation because prices of goods will go up

Solution is tackle fuel prices and improve the currency exchange rate.
the last paragraph is just it.
The increment In minimum wage isn't the solution but rather it'll aggravate the situation.
Our Country is headed by clueless individuals

You didn’t get the message.

It is not only the price of egg that will increase, prices of everything (rent, transportation, food stuffs, utilities, etc) will increase. At the end of the day, the purchasing power will so eroded that workers will become poorer than they were before salary increase. That has always been the case with all the salary increases we have had in Nigeria.

I challenge any Nigeria worker to come out and tell us that their living standards improved or that they have more savings after salary increase.

As strange and as unpalatable as it might sound, I have come to the conclusion that salary increases is not the solution to improving standard of living. In fact, it is one of the major contributors to hyper inflation and erosion of purchasing power of citizens in the country.

I am a worker, but I am been factual.
