Gbogbowa:Very funny...you think those selling layers will keep their prices low for you to buy ? ![]() Anyone smart should buy non-perishable items like generator, TV etc that you have been contemplating. The moment minimum wage is implemented...all hell will break loose.

Love800:When govt increase wages so drastically, how will private entities be able to increase the wages of their staff? They can only do so by also increasing the price of products and services. This leads to a cascading effect where all goods and services increases to fit the new wages. It's basic economics. |

Tonididdyx:This is honestly the core of the problem. Fuel prices and availability. Reduce fuel prices and the prices of the other goods will fall accordingly. |

OriOko88:This is dumb sha. America has a minimum wage for the whole country. That's the minimum any state or employer must pay. Each state will them use that as the minimum base to set their own minimum wage. Thus states can go higher but not lower. Why are Nigerians not getting this simple idea? If National mInimum wage is N60k, lagos can set its own to N100k, Ogun and Oyo 80k, Osun 70 k, while Ekiti will be the 60k, which is the minimum acceptable, due to their peculiar economic realities. How many banks pay minimum wage? They pay higher. Nigerians need to up their IQ if they want to contribute to public discourse |

ResourceMan:I have been looking at gym equipment... looking at a generator for my 2nd house... Been dragging my feet, but this weekend, want to place the order for gym stuff. Unfortunately for me, the generator has to wait till end of the month and to be honest, I am really scared what can happen at that time. The moment Tinubu removed fuel subsidy, I rushed to petrol ⛽️ station, filled my tank, bought AC, fridge, generator and other electronic equipment as backup for the ones that are failing. Those same things are 2x their prices now ...if not more. |

tctrills:Theoretically you made a valid point but what I mean is economic theories work here(Nigeria) in rare cases. Price will rather remain constant till price of substitute level up. Let me give you a case study, some month back, people were complaining rice was expensive, then people switch to cheaper alternative like beans and yam and garri but today, beans is now more expensive even though the price of rice didn't drop drastically. Back to the egg issue, egg has a composite demand, different people buy egg for different reason aside consumption and most time demand outweighs supply. |

If he does this Government will step in to exercise price control policies. Then flood the market with foreign eggs. The local farmers will suffer it in the end. Melagros: |

Seefinish:You didn’t get the message. It is not only the price of egg that will increase, prices of everything (rent, transportation, food stuffs, utilities, etc) will increase. At the end of the day, the purchasing power will so eroded that workers will become poorer than they were before salary increase. That has always been the case with all the salary increases we have had in Nigeria. I challenge any Nigeria worker to come out and tell us that their living standards improved or that they have more savings after salary increase. As strange and as unpalatable as it might sound, I have come to the conclusion that salary increases is not the solution to improving standard of living. In fact, it is one of the major contributors to hyper inflation and erosion of purchasing power of citizens in the country. I am a worker, but I am been factual. |

if we talk now they Wil say we worship the whites. Why wud a country be using the same template for minimum wage. USA uses different templates for minimum wage same as in Germany. My sister in Indiana told me their own minimum wage is $12 per hour while in California it's $16. It shows that each state pays it's own minimum wage based on it's economy potential. But in Nigeria the govt is fixing same minimum wage for a worker in Ekiti or zamfara and the ones in Lagos or Rivers. C'mon. Let each state fix it's own minimum wage. But before that can be effective,we must return to Regional govt.
