Little details to work with e.g prospects of further earning e.t.c

All things being equal, would even take £1300 over 500k in 9ja

2000 pounds a month is very low in the UK currently. But if you are industrious, plan on rasing a family and giving your children fair opportunities, the UK is the better option for now. Nigeria will be "great" but it will still take quite a long while .
Nigeria will be great....... Is what we have been hearing since birth ......😂😂😂

£2k after tax is £1600, sorry remind me to remove NI and Pension maybe you also do union so your take home should be around £1550
If you are alone and you're not driving £400 should be enough for transportation, feed and Internet (I will assume you don't take phone on credit)
Depends of where you live, maybe not in London where you can get a studio apartment around £600, Council tax £120 and electric and £150.
On average you should be able to keep £200 from £2k salary.

That's around 350k Naira in Naija.

But we wey we de for Naija with 500k

Take home should be around 485k, depends on where you de live, 50k per month, if you no get car 40k for transportation, 150k for food (including eat out), Internet 30k, electricity (include fuel in your generator) and gas 50k (to have almost UK standard of power supply, security and Estate charges 20k

You should save atleast 100k

Pick your poison

Honestly they're both still average based on the country economy. But #500k job anywhere else except Lagos, Abuja, PH, currently is a go👍🏽
Good advice. I currently reside in PH and I can tell how terrible it feel to live in this city right now .
The only people who live comfortable in this three cities are our politicians and Fraudsters.

This is a dumb comparison, compare jobs with similar pay.
For example a caregiver can make at least £4k per month in the UK, in Nigeria max would be #100k.
Lie from the pit of hell!
No carer makes 4k a month.

Even with the present wobbling naira , 500k/month is still a fair deal.
Re: 500k Per Month In Nigeria Or 2000pounds Per Month In The Uk by Femiairboy: 3:26pm On Jun 10, 2024
That depends, is this pre tax or post tax? Also where in Nigeria/UK are you living in. Do you have a family? Overall i believe N500K is sufficient in Nigeria, that’s N6M a year. A 3 bedroom apartment in Lagos on average is about N2.3M, you still have about N4M. £2000 might seem like a lot but taxes and rent will eat deep into it.

500k per month in nigeria is better than 2k per month in uk because only one month rent will collect about 800 from that 2k then you'll be left with 1200. Bottom line is, 500k in Nigeria has more purchasing power than 2k in uk

Apart from the field trip, which parents pay for, Niigeria education is superior to theirs, as bad as it seems.

Let a Nigeria student enters their primary and secondary schools, they always outshine them. I am talking of serious students.

If you calculate the cost of school uniform (fairly used o or you think oyinbo no dey sell and buy fairly used school uniform) alone in the UK, you will run. Not to talk of cost of field trips which end up being more expensive than average Nigeria schools.

UK students have more confidence to speak outside because they do not beat them, and that also encourage them to be rude, spoilt and nasty. It is an environment parents that are working at all times can easily lose control over their kids. UK students learn diverse things like rugby, playing of guitars etc but the real academic work, they cant beat Nigerian students.

What’s the size of your family? If you’re single or married and your wife can work or start working in no distant future, 2k quid is fine. But if you’re going to be a family of 2 or more with just you earning 2k, you will survive but struggle.

There's no comparison between both, let no one confuse you. £2k in UK is far better like from Damaturu to Owerri to compare with N500k in 9ja.

What's N500k... that I strive to sustain with in a month with my little family with nothing left for savings.

No just waste time, grab the £2k offer like your life depends on it.
You obviously don't know what life in UK entails.. 2k is like someone earning minimum wage in Nigeria..

House rent in London will take more than half of that for a rubbish place. House rent can take half of your 500k in Lagos but it would be a decent place. The rest is about the same.

You can't run that your family with 2k per month in the UK.

Be guided bro.

Except that our minimum wage is not adequate for a decent life while theirs is. The real question is, is this person living in London or elsewhere?
