The hunger in the land has entered an advanced stage, the governments need to act now, before it is too late.

He can only do it if he means well for this country but in the contrary he cares not as it affects him not.

When the import restrictions are lifted and many willing importers of food flood the BDCs for forex to buy food, price of forex starts increasing and that will readjust the local equivalent of the imported food further.
One problem with our policies and laws is halfhearted implementation. Lack of complementary policies too is another I.e conflicting policies.
Policies that conflict with reality too abound.

Very typical, always looking for short cuts.

It is planting season, the rains have started falling.

I cant imagine the north having the unique advantage of cocoa cultivation and a northerner as president then ignoring that sector.
The man is just there for himself. If he is asked for the difference between leadership, governance and politics, I am sure he cant differentiate them.

to plant now is logical thing to do, but planting goes beyond textbook theories.

Seeds are expensive and even at that, where is the money to buy the seed, herbicide, hire labour, and get manure?

A big nation like Nigeria with vast fertile land shouldn't be in the mess it is in today.

The politicians just want to steal and embezzle money from national budget. Just sad.

If everyone should go back and start farming, food will be abundant and hunger problem will be solved.. PBAT should deploy tactical squad of JTF to Benue, Plateau, Taraba and co. to flush out anti-State actors posing as herders. Let them neutralize each and every one of those murderers hiding in the bushes. Executive order for Military to kill is the way to solve food security challenge at this point in time..

At this point food importation Wont help naira is too week

Things are actually cheaper now if you convert it to dollar

The only solutions is like Peter Obi said 1) total merciless eradication of insecurity.

2) investment in the people by providing soft credit to cooperatives that are into farming not to individuals...

a) cooperative must have 50 members minimum age 20 to 55 max

b) cooperative must have access to 500 hectares of land

c) cooperative must have a management team of 5 minimum each having 5 years experience farming the crop in question and must know how to use modern seeds and modern farming methods

And how would the local farmers grow?

We should Import Yams, pepper, tomatoes, beans? Why should foods we are not importing costing ridiculously?

Please don't talk about insecurity in North because it would sound as if the southern people are just disabled to go into farming .

And if it's about dollar rate, when the dollar rate was low, the price of foods never went down .. So that can't be the effects.

Our agriculture productions have been reducing for decades now

These are some of the most fundamental issues but the Ogunfe and shaki hin-tellecshuals will lift rubbish 'ideal scenario" textbook nonsense to tell you.

If the useless government is not ready to destroy the Fulani bastards making Nigeria an unsafe and unlivable space, part of which means that local farmers can't meet domestic demand, than the ONLY option is to ALLOW the importation of all and any grains and food. This is common sense

Gbamm ! I remember watching a video where Ghana Police IG was asking his men whether the Fulanis are more powerful than the Police ? And his men answered NO .
Before you know it , The Ghana Police dealt mercilessly with the Nonsense Fulanis 😁
But look at Nigeria, Where Cows are more important than Human life !!!

Rice millers are the greatest fraud in this country.
They import paddy rice, mill it and resell at exorbitant prices.
Why can't the government allow already processed rice into the country instead of paddy (raw) rice.

A bag of 50kg fertilizer is 50,000 naira currently. And you need 3bags of fertilizer at least if you're farming on a 2 plots of land. Now imagine 150k for the 3 bags of fertiliser plus manual labour which includes, clearing the place for cultivation, cultivation, planting, weeding and the rest. Let's say that every expenses for cultivation amounts to 200k.

Lastly harvest and transportation is another expenses too. After all these you expect food prices to be cheap under tinubu, how possible is that?

Pure lies. The war between Russia and Ukraine caused the increase in fertilizer price globally not only Nigeria

What has the war between Russia and Ukraine got to do with fertilizer prices in Nigeria?

Na only Russia dey manufacture fertiliser?
Import duty in Nigeria and fuel prices, even dollar are all on the high side since tinubu took over. These are the major problems deal with that, not Russia and Ukraine war.

And don't ever sell that kind of lies and propaganda to me again because you know I won't buy it.

That's why you need to stay updated about global news.

Russia and Belarus are one of the highest producer of Urea , phosphate and Potash which are the most ingredients to make fertilizers.

The sanctions on both Russia and Belarus regarding the Ukraine war is what caused the high increase in price of fertilizers.
