It’s temporary, Local Government Chairmen are always elected in Benue.

They are not the local government chairmen but rather, caretaker chairmen.

The practice has been that, the incumbent would continue until such a time the people return to the polls and Elect a new leader.

It shows that u didn't read the article but rushed to comment. He swore in the same incumbent after writing the state house of assembly to extend their term briefly. He replaced only one of them. While the rest continued pending when elections hold.

This is what the useless government wants. Installing CTCs in LGAs within their state in order to continue mismanagement of LGA funds in collaboration with their cronies.

At present, God will punish all the state governors in Nigeria who are embezzling funds meant for the development of the state and also who are hell bent on paying peanuts as Minimum Wage despite the increased allocations from FAAC.

So,you want the former chairmen of LGAs to extend beyond their tenure or continue?
Since, vacuum of such positions cannot be allowed,
if you were the governor,what will you do?

Here elections do happen, what happened with Akume and Suswam’s tenures was that it was rigged to impose their stooges. but for Ortom he made sure the people he handpicked were unopposed by threatening the other political parties not to contest.

For Alia, he has a reputation to maintain so … Elections will be free and fair.

Lol. Clever by half. The same set of people he just extended their tenure are caretakers, not like they were elected. And by law, their tenure can't be more than six months at a stretch after which the gov will discharge them or write the House to extend their tenure by another six months and so on. He just did what other govs are doing, he's not different. Thieves!!

It is not his fault that elections didn't hold. The party was experiencing crises. Akume wanted to be a godfather and Akume controlled members of the party. The tor tiv only settled them recently.

The Reverend is so far the best democratic governor Benue can boast of. He is silently putting structures in place and benue people are happy with his performance so far.
If he was like the rest. He would have selected his own people to fill those positions. But he didn't want to do that since election will hold to bring in new democratic elected LG chairmen.
He only assessed their performance and maintained them pending elections. Remember that he didn't select the current caretakers. He inherited them from the government he defeated.
If he had a selfish motive, he would simple install his own men and heaven won't fall.

I didn't know elections are difficult to conduct. What is the work of ISEC? So it's easier to embark on road constructions than conduct an election abi? You are part of our problem in this country.
