Even if i create where to lay eggs for them, they all end up not laying the eggs there.

Is there something am not getting right ?

U need to have atleast ten laying area where your birds can go and lay. If not they will just lay around. Your gain is in the amount of times your hen lay. Keeping them till they are fit is another way to make profit Keeping them indoor will save you a lot . The issue of hawk picking of hen will not be there. The cycle will be 4 times a year. Each hen will do atleast 40 per year.Am just coming back from my parent place. That's my formula now. I don't do this agric shit. Let them hatch and do the recycling over and over. In space of 6 month u will get 200 hen. Just create where to lay for them

I think the only problem here is space, if you're living in your house or a rented apartment, in as much as it is fenced and you live there alone, no neighbors or anybody complaining about them (the native birds) then you're free. Have also started with the local hens around early March this year (3 hens and 1 cock), but 1 hen got killed a week after I bought by one of my neighbors complaining about their shit.

At the moment, the 2 remaining hen joined lay eggs together 18 eggs, in less than 3 weeks they will hatch. The problem now is, the more the hens, the more the complain from my neighbors.

I just started out on this poultry rearing as to how people are talking about it. Infact I started with 25 broiler chickens ND after feeding them for 8 weeks, I sold them in kilos ND made profit. I want to expand by making a pen house that can accommodate 100-150 birds. I must tell u, I don't have to bother about going to buy chicken to eat, I ate a handful of what I breed ND sold the rest.
I want to add layers too, I have a cage but I am eying on expanding ..

Neighbor will really frustrate you, if ur family house is near u, u can establish in ur family compound ND be going there to feed them ND look after them...

Just like the person above me said, u need to be in it personal space to really raise these chicken

Believe me, if you need to grow exponentially, you should find an incubator. I'm telling you from experience. You will be shocked what you can get. This is a private talk for you. I won't want to expose you here that you should share some vital info. Let's see templates of incubators you can use. Believe me, you can get one. It may require you to safe...but you can get. And the money will come from your business. All I need to see are figures of your sales, and I will show you how you can safe and buy an incubator.

Every problem for me is a winning strategy. Just like how I am trying to win with high cost of day old broiler chicks. I won seriously one time with high cost of feed.

One boy wanted to japa. I had a friend who told me to get him 50 turkeys last year...but no time...he gave me 11 months upfront notification. This guy came at the right time. I just place the opportunity to on his table. He ordered 55 foreign turkeys...and boom....I guided him. He raised some good amount of money. So, this things are opportunities. I am interested in knowing about them all.

I am presently working on ducks too. Trying to find where I can order Khaki Campbell. I want to see how I can grow them to like 100 and then see how 10,000, 50,000...100,000 is possible. There is an opportunity I want to explore with that breed. It is gonna take time, and I am not in hurry.

In all these issues, my major headache is faithful workers. It is why I am slowing down.

But really, I want to invest in the health of my close family members. I don't want to grow old alone. I need people around me too. So, as I am investing in myself, I am investing in others and building a good network.

OMG, they will complain, it will look like u inconvenient them even if u get a cage, they will still talk about the smell..
Some landlord will not even allow u, I wonder why they haven't report u to the house owner

Ask the food sellers to help u with raw food ingredients. U ferment those corns and millets then give your bird.

Have u tried enclosing them in a cage? That way they don't disturb other neighbours.

I am inspired by this thread to start something new in poultry business though in small scale. Please how do I go about it? I have a small space in my backyard in a rented apartment. What do I buy? From what I've read so far, I intend selling for meat and eggs.

I have few layer birds. For the local you have to lodge the baby birds after birth. Each hen gives you minimum 12 chicks. So most of the feeds I create is for those native chicks. I feed them so they can be fit before I let them eat. Brother we have different dimensions in this business. Am sourcing canteen waste to feed this guy's. In space of two weeks the mother hen is out laying again. Soon I will show my workings here. The profits in native fowl is slow but u will have lots of numbers. Well am cross breeding them . Before I get to the fourth stage I would have gotten something good. I sell the natives from 6k upward. I get feeds from my homies who are into food business. Every two weeks I get like a full bag of mixed corn millet n other stuffs.

Bros I think you can read something on cockroach farming in look for a aerated container or drum do it in it n feed your birds some cockroaches to supplement their feed

Reason u too go prepare for them. Once the mother hen hat h. Keep them indoor for a month. That way u get surplus on your investment.
