While it virtually died in Nigeria,I was shocked to see Mr.Biggs booming in Ghana and Liberia.
I'm still wondering if it was exported for good.

The one in Terminus, Jos, Plateau State have been demolished. A two storey plaza building is standing there now.

They stopped using A.C, flies hovering everywhere, heat backing u upandan. Buildings were delapidated and needing renovation

Life happened. It simply died like other businesses that have outlived their useful do. The Buhari/ Emilokan failed economy didn't help.
When I saw one of their outlets using kerosene lamp during power outage I knew the end had come for the once glorious Mr Biggs.

Truly, that brand was huge in Nigerian homes but couldn't compete with others.

If a strong minded big business person with passion in fast foods buys that brand with the logo and up the scale, that brand alone will bounce back big time.

I took my wife to Nigeria last year, and as I loved Mr Bigg's meat pies as a kid, she wanted to try it. On Google Maps in Abuja, a few locations showed up and we drove to 3 or 4 in the Wuse 2 area. None of them were there, including one I actually went to in 2018 on Ademola Adetokunbo, I believe. It wasn't there anymore.

We ended up driving a long distance, to find one. It was in a gas station, but can't remember the area. Somewhere on the way to Gwarimpa. After all that stress, they had nothing at the dingy location, except rice & chicken. Pretty annoying. We went back a few days later still in hunt of the legendary Mr. Bigg's meat pie, and this time they had it. Mission accomplished.

Mr. Bigg's downfall was mostly a classic case of poor franchise implementation. Nothing kills a franchise quicker than poor quality control audits and systems.

The last time I visited one was 2007 in Accra,I can't remember the location.This outlet was dead only waiting for the undertaker.No electricity so AC was out of it, two very scrawny chicken laps and few dried meat pies on display. The young people we saw there were sitting in groups reading books and not buying anything. We made our way back to the exit after getting a good view

God bless you jare, exactly because they lost the uniqueness of their products. Same thing will soon happen to mat ice. In Benin, anywhere you go, you will see them. GT plaza don't buy into franchise stuff and he is gaining ground everyday. He will soon push mat ice out of business.

Generally all the old conglomerates are having problems. The John Holts, UTC, Leventis etc. Mr Biggs is part of UAC foods which is part of UAC group. All their divisions and/or subsidiaries are either comatose or in ICU.

Gawd! When my boyfriend-turned-hubby took me out on dates, Mr. Biggs was one of our choicest places to visit. I actually was crazy about their meat pie and burger. We deliberately crisscrossed many of their branches. Nothing lasts forever. I think it was the franchise thing that majorly killed them, speaking based on info from inside source.

Your post is quite insightful but you are making a mistake here. Mr. Biggs outlets have NOT ceased to exist especially in Lagos. There's one popular Mr. Biggs outlet at a fuel station along Oba Akran Avenue in Ikeja.

I'd love to visit, although I'm not in lag, would relive my childhood all over again.

Nothing lasts forever. At least they did two decades in the business. I remember eating at one of the last Mr Bigg's spots in Abuja as at 2010.

Mr Biggs and Tantalizer, another that is going is Sweet Sensation, can't pass a verdict on Tastee Fried Chicken yet.

Plus the fact, they didn't plan for the competition.
Forget Nigerians are innovative and are creative as the country continues to grow in hardship.

MR BIGGS used to be the number fast food restaurant back then, but now people hardly visit there.

They were busy enjoying the monopoly and didn't plan for competition until it took them out. In this life, if you're the first, continue to work hard to remain the best. If not, you can only end up in history as the first. Well, Rip to Mr. Biggs.

No matter how hard u work out and tried to stay afloat, when it is time to be driven out u can't escape it..no matter how big ur preparations to always stay at the top, u can't be there forever..
