You are so naive to think that 90% of Nigerians work in offices or software jobs. I bet you, you don't have up to 1 % working in the software industry.
On the other hand, we have millions who depend on construction and Agriculture the very areas you want to put prisoners.

The food shortage and food inflation crisis we are facing today in Nigeria is largely due to shortage of farm produce.

Now if we have means as a Nation to bring more hands into farming, it will help us to increase our production and have good food security.

Nigeria is having so many land size that are yet to be put to use and wasting away. If we use our resources very well, we don't have to be in food crisis. Please think.

Nigeria has over 40 million farmers. That's more than the number of farmers in the US, UK, Canada, and the entire EU put together. The food shortage is not a result of not having enough labor in the agricultural industry.
Now let me give you a history lesson.
The southern America depended on slave labor while there was no such thing in the north, yet the north was far richer with less unemployment.
Think about that.
Forced labour is never a better alternative to the free market.

I don't know if you have visited any prison in Nigeria before or at least read about what's happening over there in terms of congestion as the scope of this discussion.

Instead of piling up grown up fellows in one dirty room while government is budgeting billions of Naira on yearly basis for their feeding without them adding even a grain to national wallet and put them to National farming. Don't you think at least something will be coming into the treasury no matter how and it will definitely be a plus to whatever we have been generating. Like you said even if that didn't guarantee enough, it will not be a minus.

That been said, are you aware China is sending prisoners to other Countries to do some menial works even in Nigeria here, some of the white skin fellows we're seeing at the Construction sites are prisoners, those that are still serving jail terms, but instead of them been locked in one room suffering and doing nothing while China Government will keep spending their resources on them, they pull them out to other Countries as labourers in other for them to be useful and bring something back to the purse. If you doubt it you can do some finding about the claim for you to be sure.
So if we compare these two scenarios, which of the narrations do you consider to be better?

Please let's learn to stop giving unrelated examples. Your Chinese example does not apply.
You have 80 million poor Nigerianm Do you understand what that means?
Four in ten Nigerians are poor and the number is increasing everyday yet you choose to give the available jobs in agriculture and construction to prisoners just because china did it according to you.
What then happens to all our construction workers?
Again you will push many farmers into poverty as they will not be able to compete with the free labor coming from prison farms
Let me explain.
So if I am a farmer, and I spend 1 million to pay my workers, the prison farms are getting free labor so the will be able to produce food at a cheaper cost and kick me out of business.
Please do some studying. Learn and understand market forces and how economics works.
Other countries that use prisoner's labor are Eritrea and North Korea and both are super poor.
