The lawyer works for the state. One of their responsibilities is to foster peace and settle parties. Even judges do that suo motu depending on the case. From the article it's not hard to see who the wahala came from in the marriage.
how does that give the lawyer the powers to order the police to arrest her client and place her in detention?

Did you miss where the lawyer was also trying to mediate
Mediate on whose behalf or order? Is that her job or part of her job? Use your naturally given common sense now!

abi you think lawyers are born trouble makers?
Lol. She's being paid to do a specific job which is for her client to get justice. Not to facilitate how a murderer will reconcile with his victim. Hehe!

Hello stop spewing what u don't know. How can someone just take your picture in the public without your consent?
People don't need your consent before taking your pictures or videos in public. Even IGP once said that citizens can record the police activities in the public.
You have also seen how the police are being recorded on camera in USA and elsewhere.
You equally saw how Aregbe was recorded at a dinner abroad with camera in his face when he was a minister of interior or whatever. I think you guys need to try and know what your rights are. Or, are you telling me that you can't record someone vandalising public properties, someone beating his kid mercilessly in public, someone defeacating in public or your lawyer talking to the suspect behind your back as in this case? Sometimes, I wonder the level of IQ of some of you guys

Mumu is your name. Her job is to ensure justice for the victim. If reconciliation was what the victim wanted, she wouldn't have involved the lawyer. And if she changes her mind in the middle of the case, she would have still been the one to inform her lawyer that she doesn't want prosecution anymore but reconciliation.
This is not assault and battery only but involuntary double murders. Are you this stupiidd or the said lawyer is your family member?

Don't be an idiot. I'm a lawyer and this plays out in the magistrate courts all the time. Right in my presence. It's the fault of Nairaland when men of straw can mouth off against their betters.
You must be a terrible quack lawyer and your certificate should be queried if you are parading yourself with one! You want to reconcile your client who's a victim with her abuser and you are still doing that behind her back? The abuser that you're supposed to even advise her to stay away from for the rest of her life! And she took your picture for evidence and the next thing for you was to go haywire? What are you hiding from if what you are doing is to favour your client? Did your employer even know that that's what you are doing?

It doesn't. Never said it did. But it's been said that wisdom is profitable. Some women knew who they married before they did. You are married to a violent man and yet you will want to go toe to toe with him even verbally assaulting him. Do you think every man out there is mature, patient and willing to walk away? Her reaction to her lawyer is proof that she isn't very smart. That is my submission. But she doesn't deserve the loss, no one does.
Don't walk away. The alternative is to spend the rest of your life or significant part of your life prison. That's if you are not found guilty of murder grin grin grin.
Like this one now. He's already smelling prison term but the victim lawyer is the one standing between him and the prison

You now claim you are a lawyer yet you don't even know the difference between being a lawyer and being a mediator? The link below can help educate you.

So you are invariably saying that a state employee has the power to manipulate the law as he pleases simply on the grounds the state employs him. Do you even process your thoughts before you post them? undecided

∆ Take this statement to the Centre for Mediation in Lagos and they will laugh your ignorant arse out. It is better to keep quiet sometimes rather than speak and make a fool of yourself.
∆ Many lawyers including judges are mediators and the rule is to seek mediation rather than crossing swords. When mediation fails then it's on.
You are not making any sense! undecided

The OP does not state that the client went to the center of mediation for help with her case, but to the courts meaning she was not seeking mediation but justice. So why did you dey mention the mediation center in this case? Again, you dey read at all? lipsrsealed

2. If indeed you are a lawyer, I suggest you go back to your textbooks to learn the difference between acting as a mediator at a mediation center and being a lawyer acting solely on behalf of your client. Please do so immediately too cause this here just reveals....😑😑😑😑😑😑

Why? The woman seems to have temper issue. If she thinks her lawyer has compromised, she should drop her and get another lawyer. The whole fuse was not necessary.
na you go pay the lawyer fees

War in Babylon.

Getting people’s pictures without their consents can lead to trouble sometimes.

In public?

But the lawyer tried to reconcile their and her husband. Did she cross her boundary?

The man too should not expect to reconcile with a lady that he had battered too many times. The wife hates him completely and does not want a reconciliation.

Again, post a reference to the actual section of the law you continue to quote so we can see what it is you claim here. undecided

Broadcasting company employees go around every day taking pictures of people without their consent and this has been the case since my youth. Youtubers go around every day taking pictures in public places without consent from the many passersby and I have yet to read even a single suit or arrest by the police based on just that. But here you are, attempting to screw with the intelligence of Nigerians, and for what? angry

Once again oga D law, read my initial comment and understand the English words clearly, before jumping in with your legalistic view and confusing yourself.

Read clearly first before reverting to discuss the legal angle.

And by the way, have you neither seen nor heard of reporters getting into trouble with their cameras? Or are you trying to play the ostrich here?

Okay. I have washed my face with soap. Poor woman that finally exhibited her true traits outside. Go and bail the poor woman from custody if you are not a fool.

It's amazing how you lot exhibit stupidity in the bid to sound smart. Don't be a total mor.on. If you lack comprehensive skills a public forum is no place to exhibit that fact. You are clearly a dunce and a troubled soul. May God help you. Please remain on your lane.
I spit on your face again. You have absolutely no defence for your foolishness.

You call me a troubled soul. Agreed. Atleast i know my troubles and seeking solutions. I'm better off than you who is silly, miserable pathetic and doesn't know.

How can you demonize a woman who just got battered and lost her twin pregnancy? Can't you see that you're the dunce here?

I pray you sibbling or children pass through the predicament of this woman.
