The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun on Wednesday condemned the recent outbreak of violence in Rivers State which led to the tragic deaths of a Police officer, Inspector David Mgbada, and Samuel Nwigwe, a vigilante operative.

DAILY POST reports that the killings occurred on Tuesday when supporters of the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike clashed over the tenure of the 23 LG chairmen.

Reacting to the development, the IGP, in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, directed the Commissioner of Police in Rivers, CP Olatunji Disu, to heighten security measures across the state.

The police boss also ordered thorough investigations into the killing of the police officer and the vigilante operative, as well as the general violence which erupted in the state.

According to the statement, the IGP specifically deployed operatives of the Force Intelligence Response Team, IRT, to assist the Rivers State Command in apprehending the killers of the police officer and the vigilante member.

“The IGP warned individuals and groups of people who have a penchant for senseless attacks and mindless killings of police officers and other security operatives across the country to desist forthwith as the fullest force of the law will be meted on them,” the statement said.

Nigeria police have turned themselves to mop stick which anyone can use to mops the floor.
How miscreants kill the police in South East and north is very much unfair, this have further spells the notion that Nigeria is a failed country, if your police is not safe who are the average people?
Igp should make groups, individuals a scape goat to scale away others miscreants high on drugs.

These people are just trying so hard to declare state of emergency in Rivers state. But to be sincere, Tinubu can never try it. He knows how dangerous things can be if he try it. You guys are not serious. Run to Obasanjo for lessons. How can the president allow Rivers State descend into such chaos? It is a shame. Start by sacking the Commissioner of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff. Better bring Chijioke Ihunwo, Boma Goodhead, Asari Dokubo, Edison Ehie (wanted felon) and others to justice. You allowed Fubara to use militants to cause mayhem in Rivers State.
