Kobojunkie:. Is about how sustainable it will be. Increasing wage rate when productivity has not increased calls for inflation. When u increase wage rate you look at the GDP and to what percentage of GDP. If private sector struggles to pay, then the price of egg will increase, the price bank charges for account maintenance will increase, the price of school fees will increase, the price of transportation will increase. Price of rice might increase gradually to 150k, food stuff will increase All this won't happen overnight but gradually then in 10 years we will be at the table to talk about this unfortunately situation. The question now is : How can we improve crop yield. How do we stop fuel importation to crash petrol price down. When will farmers go to farm safe. And manyore. But we keep electing unfortunate leaders who messes the country up |

fastseo:😂😂😂😂😂 Are you all reading from the same decrepit script or what? 😁😁😁😁😁 1. There has been no minimum wage increase in the last 4 years yet inflation still happened at a rate of over 30%. This means that whether you increase the minimum wage or not inflation can happen. So, are you saying then that this fear of having more inflation — seeing the already high inflation numbers go up —should be reason enough to subject over 160 million Nigerians to life in abject poverty...$20 per month when the minimum wage ought to be at least 68 dollars for meaningful existence? ![]() Inflation as it stands today is not a result of Nigerians being paid more money but a result of recent APC policies many of which were implemented during this current administration. So, why should the fear of inflation be used as a weapon against Nigerians demanding better pay when inflation, as it stands, was not caused by the same receiving better pay? Why the nonsense scare tactics? ![]() 2. New wages have not been released in over 4 years yet inflation has climbed to over 35% with no end in sight. Prices of goods and services have risen over 400% at this point and it is expected to continue to rise. The new reality of things in Nigeria, a reality caused not by an increase in wages but by policies implemented by the government, is responsible for the high inflation rate and high cost of goods and services. So what is the reason behind this inane tactic of trying to pin inflation instead of an increase in wages? ![]() 3. Nonsense! Why are you asking these questions now when your elected offices who already padded their take-home pays without so much as a peep from you by the way — no rants about inflation or higher prices to be heard then— already assured you they are tackling those very same issues? Are you OK at all? ![]() |

Kobojunkie:Minimum wage was about 10k when a bag of rice was 6k during Jonathan regime. And soon it was increased to 30k.. Then gradually things went up to catch the new minimum wage. E.g a bag of rice went slowly to 10k then to 20k. Labour has been fighting to increase it again for a while n now the latest inflationary pressure gives them the perfect opportunity for that. Apart from wage increases, we have deficit budget: tax revenue less than govt expenditure.. Government keep spending than it receives, pushing more money into the economy This has been happening through out Buhari tenure till date n it encourages inflation. Interest rate policy: cbn maintain an interest rate of about 13 to 11% from 2019 to 2023 this made money available in the system until now they hike it to 26% to retrieve money from the system Printing of money to pay salary, fund project et. Bottom line is.. Any time money is pushed into the system expect rise in prices.... Since productivity hasn't increased prices will soar.. Lastly paying more money without increasing bag of rice in market will only led to people wanting to spend more money to buy same quantity of rice You can never cook money rather u use it to buy food in the market.. It's time we start looking at what can be done to increase productivity, stop fuel import, stop waste In government only then we shall have lasting value for wage increases |

Kobojunkie:I said since productivity has not increase, money being pushed to the system will only ease pain for a little. Just as the 30k increase didn't ease pain for long. The lasting solution is when production increases in all aspects |

If the last minimum wage increase of 30k that occurred in 2019 just less than 4 years can't sustain us then we will be in table again in 2028 to ask for 1 million wage increase. As far as wages is increased and even now they demand over 400% it will accelerate more inflation . |

Why should Labour go on strike for election irregularities? They haven't done that and some of you are already accusing them of working for Obi. Kukutente23:Calm down.. How much was a paint of tomatos? Paint of beans the last time u went to market! There is food scarcity in Nigeria due to low yield, food taken out through northern boarders, bokoharam and bandit preventing farmers from going to farm. If this continues if u like increase wages to 1m... It will only take time for u to buy 1bag if rice for 500k. Which should look at the supply side... Food production what can be done to increase productivity of food 1) are farmers safe? 2)what equipment has government bought given to farmers 3)what are the policues put in place for them? Here in the UK.. A day wage is enough to take care of me and my entire family for the month. I mean a day wage of 137.8 pounds is enough to buy food n stocked and I won't go to market.. Why is that so? Because they have food security.. They farm in commercial quantities etc Until u increase supply u are only playing |
| Re: Accept Fg Offer Above N60,000 As New Minimum Wage, Opeyemi Bamidele To Nlc, Tuc by Kukutente23: 1:50pm On Jun 20, 2024 |
fastseo:You're just regurgitating what you hear online without having the facts. There is no food scarcity in Nigeria. What we have is astronomical price increase. If you want tomato and pepper of 10 baskets today, I'll get it for you as long as you're ready to pay. It is virtually impossible for all food items to become scarce at the same time. From garri, millet, water melon, bananas which are domestic to yam, rice, beans which are commercial, all food items are very expensive now. Down from the rural areas, an average tuber of yam goes for between 2200-3000 something which used to go for 300-500 before. So imagine what the price will be like when it gets to Lagos or Abuja. So there's general price increase in Nigeria which is caused by the fuel subsidy removal which has ballooned transport costs and naira devaluation which has ballooned cost of imported goods. So it's nothing like supply. Cost of goods has increased. |

Kukutente23:Do you think soo? Well u might be wrong although subsidy trigger price increases. Note Before subsidy removal prices was soaring. Farm produces has decline due to bokoharam cries, herdsmen, non support from government

| Re: Accept Fg Offer Above N60,000 As New Minimum Wage, Opeyemi Bamidele To Nlc, Tuc by Kukutente23: 5:45pm On Jun 20, 2024 |
fastseo:UN is not operating any farm in Nigeria that I know of. And I am not wrong. It is you who is assuming that rise in prices is due to food scarcity in your cocoon in the UK. I am on ground and I am telling you that farm markets are selling a tuber of yam between 2200-3000. What about beans? Beans is farmed mostly in the North Central and Southern part of the country. Why is it having rise in price with other foods that come from core North? Before subsidy removal price was rising not soaring. But subsidy removal just removed the brakes totally. Until Tinubu happened to Nigeria, you could get a wheel barrow filled with yam at 15k to18k. Right now, you can't get it less than 35k. Another angle is the currency devaluation which has made it unattractive for countries like Niger to bring food across the border into Nigeria, coupled with the recent fracas over the ouster of their President which Nigeria behaved belligerent. Niger Republic used to be a sure plug for food supply in Nigeria before. But with the currency devaluation, they don't see Nigeria as an attractive market |
| Re: Accept Fg Offer Above N60,000 As New Minimum Wage, Opeyemi Bamidele To Nlc, Tuc by fastseo: 5:58pm On Jun 20, 2024 |
Kukutente23:Since u admit that food price was rising no soaring before the subsidy removal then what caused the rising before subsidy removal? So you know more than UN who have personel on group on humanitarian camps scattered across North East? There is a no food security in Nigeria at present and there is short supply of food .. A perfect example is the tomato and pepper scarcity which people can't afford. Even the yam you pointed out is expensive and likewise garri. I was in Nigeria when garri sold for 1700 from 900 earlier on then subsidy was still in place. |

Kukutente23:It befuddles the mind how people who are starving routinely defend those starving them. I have told some people that while Bola Tinubu wields a knife to their throat and is about to slice their neck, they will still be singing "on your mandate" at a fever pitch, even as the knife sinks in and takes their life. |

fastseo:There is no short supply of food oga, food boku. The prices are the issue. And if you compare the food inflation before subsidy removal/naira float to the one after subsidy removal/naira float, all I can say is maybe you live on the moon. |
| Re: Accept Fg Offer Above N60,000 As New Minimum Wage, Opeyemi Bamidele To Nlc, Tuc by Kukutente23: 7:19pm On Jun 20, 2024 |
fastseo:You have asked a very good question. Unfortunately, as good as the question is, it is typical of the average APC supporter to develop selective amnesia in a bid to defend their leaders who promise much and deliver nothing close to their promises. Let me cast your mind back to border closure 2019. This effectively blocked the free movement of goods from across the border of which rice was the biggest casualty. It is no magic that rice has become the most expensive food item per measure. Before border closure and the audio rice pyramid, a measure of local rice used to go for 300 to 350 depending on quality. At the time Tinubu to over it was over 1500. That was a direct effect of border closure. As local rice rose in demand and price, farmers of other crops also sought to increase price as a balancing act. No farmer will see another making so much from his crops and not want to do likewise. Is North East the main farming belt in Nigeria? That's the north central! To attribute food insecurity to boko haram is the height of ignorance. Boko Haram was at its peak in 2012/13 and it did not affect food availability so how come when it has been largely contained it is being fingered as the cause of food insecurity? Let me tell you straight up that Nigeria has always had food insecurity. Most of our food supply is seasonal with rainy season for crops that demand moisture like maize, rice, groundnuts, yam and dry season for other types like okro, pepper, millet etc. But it is usually tempered by imports across the border and private storage from offtakers. Let me cast your mind back to Tinubu's announcement of the release of grains from strategic reserve recently. Where are the grains? Most of Nigeria's silos are empty!! I know one in Badeggi, Niger state that has not been used in years yet it is on FMA's website as part of our strategic grain reserve. |

From 2015 to 2024 out population has increased massively but food production falls. Not only that the currency collapses made our food cheaper in Chad, Niger, Cameron and Benin and farmers prefer to sell to those with high currencies than Nigerians
