Lmao wrong.

Monday is Oshiomole candidate.

The first primary produced Idahosa who was a Pastor iyamu candidate before the primary was cancelled by Ganduje NWC.

The primary was rescheduled and Oshiomole candidate Monday won the primaries.
I think you might be having this mixed up sha, Ize Iyamu actually pulled out and endorsed Okhebolo.

I meant him slipping through the process to the sentate, at least that one was a contest between fellow Esans. He does have some clout, or at least his surname does...I think either him or his brother is a popular philanthropist in that part of the state, and that's what he leveraged to become a senator.
If u mena slipping through the process to senate, well there's actually no reasonable electoral ladder progression to the senate or HOR in this country. Any random person can make it to the senate or HOR in this country.

Like u rightly said, just being a philanthropist who is a member of a popular political party in ur constituency, u can find urself in the HOR or Senate. U may be a former banker, a musician, a comedian, a pastor or even a convicted 419/fraudster in Obodo Oyinbo. grin

It is the process of becoming the party's governorship candidate I fault for this one jare

There are a lot of senators that found themselves in Abuja simply because of Obidient movement and it's same thing with those from other parties that won because they were contesting same day as another popular candidate, therefore benefitted from "top to bottom" style voting. Na during those PDP era we dey really get senators with significant personal clout, a lot of candidates these days ride the wave to Abuja then build their clout after they get to Abuja.
But this does not apply to Monday. Monday was a candidate of APC in an election that as a LP wave in Edo State.

It would've been a different thing is Monday was from Edo North, you could've said he won based on Oshiomole having the North on lockdown. But Monday won in Edo Central, the neutral ground of both PDP and APC.

That a candidate is not active on social media doesn't mean those that matter in the constituent do not know him.

Edit: Monday is a senator. Won Edo Central senatorial district.

Oshiomole intentionally pick Monday because of his experience with Obaseki.

As long as APC wins Edo North convincingly and LP follow them share Edo South, APC will win.
I don't think Okhebolo was Oshiomhole's initial candidate.

Yes because they actually did a reconciliation after the first primary and told everyone else to pull out but Idahosa and the third candidate refused.

A current house of representatives member is a non existent personality?

How did he win his election in Edo central then?
U are d one telling about his electorate position.
I don't how he looks .have not seen him on media neither do I know if he is dark .

I only heard that the person under the APC umbrella was unable to differentiate bw a zoo and museum..

This could be my fault as I don't really have any interest in d forthcoming election..

But Asue is like d name in every body's lip both in positive and negative remarks..

Bus drivers in Benin are being forced to put on the banner of Asue or face the consequence..

I think Obaseki doesn't really have a difficult match to play...

Well after the first primary, it was obvious Monday was going to win and Oshiomole was one of the first person to congratulate him on winning the primary.

Idahosa was also chosen as deputy governor a week after Monday had announced someone else as his deputy.

Check obi's manifesto and compare it with that of PBAT?

Asue will definitely be on everyone mouth because one, I think you are based in Edo South, a PDP stronghold and two, because of the power of being the incumbent governor candidate.

Monday did not win a senatorial election by being non existent.

It is nothing of the sort. It is a coalition of uncouth online thugs who think politics is about insulting people who disagree with them for clout.

Most of you are immature disrespectful rascals better ignored

The other day a clown in the movement was calling Obj a political prostitute and jobber. That is what your movement is. A bunch of online thugs who will abuse anyone who goes against their cult leader Peter obi, a mediocre underachieving and previously condemned member of Nigerias political establishment who had been rechristened as a symbol of good governance.
And I ask you who own the thugs? You think it's Peter Obi? You are wrong.

The rage of Obidients online is simply a reflection of the anger and zero tolerance for anything or anyone that reminds them of bad governance or old time transactional politics. This is now even compounded by the current situation of things.

Even Peter Obi who is the face of the movement came under severe attack some time ago when he looked like he wanted to call for peace or when he looked like aligning with Atiku.

I agree it's an angry mob but it's an angry mob that is tired of what we call democracy and seeks a better nation.

You should join if indeed you want good governance. Supporting BAT despite all these unfriendly policies, selfish use of public funds and wicked lies and propaganda is the reason why you think they are attacking you. Cross carpet and you will discover they bond very well with each other.

House of reps, I might agree but senate is the third most contested election in the country after Presidency and Governorship.

I don't really know much about the American political parties, but I know that the two major political parties -- the Republican and the Democratic parties are the opposite sides of a coin as they have completely different worldviews on almost everything.

Here in Nigeria, however, the major political parties have no ideologies.
[color=royalblue]I think some other countries have that too.

Nigeria's own is just anywhere belle face.

Winning elections in Nigeria doesn't necessarily mean you are popular sha, if you have strong backers, you can win elections, case in point Obaseki, Fubara and late Yar'Adua. If unpopular candidates can win governorship and even presidential elections simply because they had strong backers and a machinery in place, best believe worse would be happening in lower tier elections.

Like this Okphebolo guy, Sege wey dey active in politics for the state no know am, I no know am, but the people e contest against for primaries I know pretty much all of them, yet you say the guy popular simply because e dey win...reason am na grin

The fact that Senate seat is usually keenly contested doesn't necessarily mean the best brains get elected. My point still stands that if u have money, some political clout and belong to the political party in town, u can find ur way into the senate.

Didn't the late Buruji Kashamu find his way into the senate despite extradition noose hanging around his neck all through while he was alive?

Is it not because he had money, was a philanthropist and a member PDP that he ended up in senate?

In fact, another reason one can find himself in the senate like HOR is if u have the sympathy of the people. U remeber the LP guy that won Chimaroke Nnamani's seat in the senate? The guy's brother (who was the original flagbearer) was assassinated and then the guy picked up his late brother's ticket and today he's a senator. Nobody even knows the guy's educational qualifications, what he's been up to before his brother's assassination, etc.

there is no difference between you and the mobs that killed corpers in 2011. like you, they too wanted 'good governance' and believed this gave them the right to attack anyone who they perceived as being in the way of that.

The three candidates have not released a manifesto, and whether they release a manifesto or not, people would have to vote and I imagine they'd be taking the plunge based on the respective CVs of the candidates contesting.

AI is an accomplished business man and lawyer with a profile that's not at all hidden to the public, but if you need a refresher you can follow the link to see what the man is about https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2024/02/20/asue-ighodalo-as-breath-of-fresh-air-for-edo-state/. Olumide Akpata is another solid candidate who I think is not so far behind AI professionally, and that's why he's my alternative candidate.

I attached the WAEC result of the APC candidate, he got the result in 2008.

Hopefully there'd be a manifesto, and debates soon enough so we know more about what the candidates have to offer.
So the experience of the candidate matter now but in Lagos the inexperience of GRV given that he has never worked anywhere does not matter

My brother, you have woken up a poorer person than you were last week, last month and most definitely last year.
So all this English you are speaking on nairaland to think you belong or you have a different understanding of what is going on in Nigeria to defend apc is just you running away from reality for a brief amount of time.
You still have about 20hours plus daily to battle the madness that apc has plunged us deep into when you off the phone.

Let me guess, as you read this some of you just received a text that contains billing, infact I'm sure you currently have a few msgs archived because you are dodging billing.
But continue 😁

Below is Demola Adelekes WAEC result and he is a governor currently, Many people complaining about Mondays result in Edo supported Demola with worse result just to spite APC

Is it the PDP who presented and supported this guy for election, Or Obaseki that came to campaign for this guy will now point out someone with poor WAEC
