You can't compare. Nigeria is a nobody on the international scene for starters.

He has a case to answer, his actions were harmful to our national security. He can't be released simply because he is American. The US government wouldn't accept that kind of demand from Nigeria either. Except the US is ready to exchange him for Nigerian Senator Ike Ekweremadu that is in prison in the UK (a US ally).
