This same NASS was, just days ago, trying to argue why it makes sense to allot cash for a new plane for the president. Now it claims it has put the old faulty ones on sale and there are already bigs? Senseless damage control . The original plan was to spend a staggering amount of the nation's scarce resources to buy him a presidential jet while this nation is enmeshed in unimaginable debt burden.

Meanwhile, the citizens continue to groan in pain of hunger, unemployment, high cost of living, economic stagnation, deteriorating insecurity, poor healthcare system, investors/forex flight and double-digit galloping inflation.

Now, the questions remains why can't Tinubu fly commercial as the British PM flies British Airways and save the nation further economic loss? Why not use proceeds of selling the planes into a people-oriented project( improve electricity generation etc)? Why going to buy a new jet with the current economic realities?

In as much as what you said is factual, however for a country so polarized and divided along religion and ethnic lines and political assassinations being the order of the day, if you were to be the current president of Nigeria, can you fly a commercial plane without thinking twice about it? This is a country where political enemies can decide to crash a plane carrying their perceived enemy. See the case of former Kaduna governor and chief of Army Staff.

Commercial airliners like virgin Atlantic or Lufthansa can operate an aircraft for up to 30 years, and it will be traveling daily for 30 years.
