These people were comfortably paying their rents before Tinubu happened to them.
Call a spade a spade and stop bringing in irrelevant distractions.
Rents? How about their savings?

See, you people are not more Nigerians than others

Apc supporters don't have different market where they buy goods and services

Whatever you people are going through, those who are supporting this government are not also left out.

Life is unfair to anyone, we just have to learn how to deal with it

I have 12 individual rooms in Abuja that my dad left for me to manage. Before I assumed a management position, the rent was 120k per annum. Just last week, my immediate younger sibling suggested I increase the rent by at least 50% judging by the economic realities on the ground. I thought the hardship should elicit some level of compassion and consideration. Instead of increasing it by 50%, I reduced the rent to 75k annually. I can't be a Nebuchadnezzar
Pls what part of Abuja is your property located?

I'm badly looking for a room to rent because of my job.
Re: Tenants Struggle As Rents Skyrocket by ivandragon: 7:44am On Jun 24, 2024
The issue is not the increase per se, but the ability to pay.

The purchasing power in Nigeria seriously lags behind the cost of living in Nigeria.

From all indications, the government at all levels seems to be purposefully making it difficult to live in Nigeria. Why? That remains to be clearly seen, but using poverty to control the masses is certainly one of them.

Again, you seem to take a perverse delight in the present suffering and hardship... why is that?

The dubious and uncoordinated policies of government are the direct cause in the increase of the cost of living as government has also succeeded in reducing the purchasing power of the average Nigerian.

That you are somehow privileged to be able to maintain a high or good lifestyle does not mean you mock others and see them as lazy or unwilling to be better in life.

Tell your cabal to show some emphaty and do what is right to bring about a positive change. It is true Sacrifices must be made, but the leaders must be in the forefront of making those sacrifices.

reading what tenants are facing, I thank God that made my relocation into my house a reality in 2020, it would have been hectic with the current economic situation, it's hitting everyone, the income is not increasing but the expenditures are mounting, foodstuffs worth 100k in 2020 is now 300k! How things degenerate to this level is sickening,if you can't improve the previous situation, don't worsened it!

Sometimes I just pity you because it is obvious you don’t know what you are doing.
People are suffering and young families are being displaced and disintegrated, and all you think about is APC.
What you wish others, you also wish for yourself. Think about your future and unborn children. Thinks about the sorrow in having them and their young families coming back to live with you due to economic hardship.
My dear, not everyone has rich patent like you do. Majority of young people in Nigeria are the ones taking care of their aged parents.

You were able to reduce the rent because you inherited it grin.
It wouldn't have been an easy decision if you were the primary investor.

You mean they should move back to go live with their parents?🤷‍♂️... that is a case of 'ti iwaju o ba se e lo eyin a se e pada si'. You are very right, we should all just go back to our parents of family houses so we dont pay rent. As for me and my household we are moving back to ogbomosho as soon as my rent is due.
Moving back to ogbomose depends on what u are into. U can't expect a salary earner in Lagos to just relocate without putting measures in place unless u are an independent person.
Though, I do tell some people that are not doing any tangible ting to relocate even if na small business and farming it will be better than doing some rubbish work that can't even sustain them in a week all in d name of "I dey Lagos" I love ur courage man

Before I was thinking you know what you are doing, alas, you've lost it. Do you expect them to run back to their parents because rent is high? At this point, you need help.

There is so much anger in the land right now, from sellers to landlords down to bus conductors. God help us all, I normally get angry before, but these days I increase my threshold for bullshit. So many job losses, most breadwinners are down with depression, but as a man, you must keep fighting, it's obvious majority of these problems are man made, so the solutions will eventually be man made.
Re: Tenants Struggle As Rents Skyrocket by travelzcruix: 8:59am On Jun 24, 2024
The sad reality here is, most people tend to be living the life on social media. Hahaha, who will ever believe that Nigerians are poor.

Government need to do something to stop all this increments in rents. It's unfair in a country like Nigeria.

Our fathers had it easier. Many were able to purchase properties easily but youths of today find it difficult to rent.

Imagine someone working at VI, rent for a self con is 1 or 2M per annum, and for mini flat rent may be 3M or 4M, the person has to move to the mainland or after the island such as lakowe or Awoyaya etc.... how will such a person save money?

Government should do something please... At least for the citizens... The occultic spell placed on Nigerians by the politicians, must be broken in Jesus name
Govt has never creating enabling environment to help any landlord. Govt can't regulate or control house rent , what was govt contribution to the development of the building? The UK has better law but I don't think we can get their .I pray God will help us to own houses in better location Amen.

It is a wasteful venture to build houses for rental purposes in the present day Nigeria.
How do you make your money back with inflation rising everyday.
Until we have purposeful leaders who are business minded persons and not a tax collector as president the sufferings will continue.
