Imagine someone working at VI, rent for a self con is 1 or 2M per annum, and for mini flat rent may be 3M or 4M, the person has to move to the mainland or after the island such as lakowe or Awoyaya etc.... how will such a person save money?

This isn't Tinubu\Buhari handwork, Landlords are the biggest beneficiaries of yahoo business, house rents in areas where yahoo boys populate are always extremely high. Check out sapele road, ugbor, okhoromi and many others in Edo state and your will realise the truth, same thing everywhere in Nigeria

Just last week, my immediate younger sibling suggested I increase the rent by at least 50% judging by the economic realities on the ground. I thought the hardship should elicit some level of compassion and consideration. Instead of increasing it by 50%, I reduced the rent to 75k annually. I can't be a Nebuchadnezzar

Some people are calling on government to do something about it, are they serious? People who closed the borders to prevent food importation, created b0k0 haram and herdsmen to finish off the farmers, the people who want you stave should help with affordable accommodation? Seems Nigerians are unaware of what has befallen them.

Problem we have as country is more sophisticated. It is a serious problem of under development and self sabotage that can not be prayed away! It has to be dealt with systematically and it may not be resolved for many years!

. It's quite unfortunate that we find ourselves in the hands of this recent leaders. I do feel bad whenever I hear increment in rents but on the other hand, the government is not helping too. Things are so expensive, building material prices has skyrocketed without any measure control from the government.
As at 2015, cement were sold at 1500 naira max-2k. But now it ranges between 8 to 13k. 1 trip of sand (10 tire)then is 30k but sold at 100k per trip now. Granite was around 180 to 200k but now sells at almost 800k per trip. Not to mention labour, rods and other materials. This government has failed Nigerians for real. They all enjoyed and had the best of this great country but couldn't sustain the system that brought them in for the current generation to also have a taste of our lovely nation.
I pray God almighty helps us all...

Yoruba landlords are shylocks , here in the east.our landlords are more considerate.

The last time my landlord increased our rent was in 2022 and that was a paltry 20k , l been thinking he will increase it again this year given the hyperinflation but he didn't.

Even in backward Ogun with no road and poor sanitation people are paying 800k for a flat.

I have some self contained that I have not increased their rents over 14 years that I built it. Greedy Nigerians are the ones exacerbating this condition.
