The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Rivers State have issued a stern ultimatum to the police force, demanding the immediate evacuation of police personnel from the premises of the 23 local government secretariats within the state.

This ultimatum was announced during an emergency meeting of the State Administrative Council, convened at the NLC secretariat in Port Harcourt, the state's capital, on Friday. Alex Agwanwor, the NLC Chairman for Rivers State, acknowledged the police's efforts in maintaining peace but emphasized that preventing workers from accessing their offices constitutes a severe violation of their fundamental rights.
