Dangote And Petroleum Marketers Face Off. The Blackmail. by thesolutions(op): 5:56am On Jun 25, 2024
There is serious blackmail going on and this is why the government needs to ensure it refineries are working.

The first blackmail is that Crude oil is allocated to dangote refinery at an exorbitant rate. This can not be true as crude oil allocated to dangote by NNPC is below the export value.
Re: Dangote And Petroleum Marketers Face Off. The Blackmail. by thesolutions(op): 6:25am On Jun 25, 2024
The next blackmail is that marketers are importing substandard products at a cheaper rate. This is a great expose about the actual landing cost of the product. It means that these products came in at a cost lower than what is declared. If Dangote refinery cost price for fuel without incurring import and transport charges is higher than that of the imported product, it implies that the outburst against the marketers is a deliberate attempt at blackmail against the marketers who has been in the business for decades to make the federal government put an embargo on imported product. This is his way of trying to control the market.

The refinery has been paying more attention to international marketers rather than independent marketers. This is deliberate to harvest more ferex for both his debt repayment and status upgrade.
How else will they grab the forex if not by deliberately accusing the national marketers while they strive to meet international marketers needs.

Oga there is no face off absolutely no face off make una stop this rubbish

No marketer is important petrol even because NNPC is selling at a massive loss of ₦500 -₦700 per litre
Landing cost is over ₦1300 per little and NNPC is selling at ₦580

Dangote wants to sale at a price around the landing cost which ₦1300
NNPC refuse to buy from him and also refuse to pay subsidy that would cover for the loss if he sales for 580

So he sells abroad for ₦1300ish

There is no Faceoff just Tinubu presidency incompetence

NNPC pays no subsidy on the product. It only give marketers forex at a reduced rate to import fuel. NNPC is not the sole importer of fuel. If not, why is Dangote complaining about issuance of more license to more marketers.
Dangote is concerned about how low marketers are importing the product. That is why he is blackmailing them of importing substandard products.
Marketers were expecting Dangote to crash the price of the product but he has been stifneck about those cries and want to dictate the market price of the product like he has done to diesel.
This recent complain about marketers could be that the refinery now has excess product and is counting on blackmail to involve the government in bearing some unnecessary burden in the name of subsidy. He wants government subsidy and our foreign exchange. That is selfish. People were counting on him.

I believe it was Fuel. The mention of high sulfur content product is mostly applicable to fuel.

That was how he complained and blackmailed Nigeria government into giving him monopoly and major control over cement...see where Nigeria is today.

Gradually he'll blackmail the corrupt politicians he's been funding to pressure the government into giving him monopoly over Nigeria energy market and in 10 years Nigerians will be suffering for it while him and his family continue to pile up billions of dollars to take to the afterlife

I think I read NNPC is the sole-importer through Duke oil; my suspicion is that exchange rate for fuel-petrol imports are fixed say at N800.

common now, you think the refinery does not have a product testing lab? How do you think they could meet international specifications. It is simple as going to any retail filling station buying diesel and testing it
Re: Dangote And Petroleum Marketers Face Off. The Blackmail. by Pythagoras001: 11:35am On Jun 25, 2024
There is no blackmail anywhere. Diesel is cheaper than petrol. It is either nnpc buys from dangote at the market price and then subsidizes it which may reveal some of the current subsidy fraud or do crude swap with dangote at market rate or dangote simply export the petrol to international market at the market rate.

It is smarter to subsidize public transport than petrol.
Re: Dangote And Petroleum Marketers Face Off. The Blackmail. by CyberHustle: 12:43pm On Jun 25, 2024
The govt and NNPCL are the problem. If Dangote want to sell at intl price, patronize him and save transport cost, then subsidize.
If the NNPCL is truly giving cheap forex to importers as a strategy to subsidize fuel, the importers have the dollars irrespective of the actual rate and can approach Dangote for fuel Dangote will be happy to sell to them.
The NNPCL and Govt officials are the problem and not dangote.

And probably they have become the body responsible for testing products that meets specifications or not. The uproar is not coming from position of concern but from position of control. Before he started production, Nigerians has been importing diesel and a body responsible for testing specification has been doing their job. His entrant shouldn't be to kill others business to gain monopoly like was done to cement and attempt on indomie noodles. He should crash the price further. Diesel should not be more than 500 naira.

I only responded to the question how did he Know about the sulphur content? If due to corruption people bring in substandard products into the country he should not raise alarm. He can as well produce low quality diesel (with serious health consequences) for Nigeria market and export high quality product abroad. It is the duty of government to investigate thise claims and sanction people. 500 naira is not the market price for petrol and I made reference to it in another post on this thread. it is a little cheaper to produce diesel than petrol and the price would be slightly higher than the current diesel price and that is common sense. How did you come up with the 500 price? How has he stopped competition? Has he stopped anyone from building refineries or is the only person that has license to build refineries? Do you understand how much the refineries impact on job creation locally? Government over the world are supporting local business to dominate global value chains ours is to kill local businesses. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to run a business in Nigeria. Any idea How many multinational corporations have left the country?
