Gajagojo:Dismantled indeed. So how do we still have a sultan today. One of the biggest lies is that the caliphate was started by foreigners. Dan Fodio was born and brought up within the territory called caliphate. His ancestors have stayed there for hundreds of years before he was born Get your facts right |

Ojuntana:They had kingdoms in Hausa land There is nothing anywhere in Africa about where you were born We operate autochthonously the Fulani displaced Hausa King's their reign did not last 100 years before the British replaced them Nigeria is the heir of the British That is why governors can remove all the figure head rulers What the Fulani did to Hausa Kings Nigeria has done to Fulani Kings |

Melagros:If you had spoken like someone who resides in Sokoto or read History as a course, I would have scholarly responded to your comment. But nevertheless, I will forgive your ignorance. It's because you don't know the place of the Sultanate that's why you spoke the way you did. You're forgiven son |

ProudBoy:Any chief is under the control of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The state governor appoints all chiefs & gives them staff of office. He can hire and fire them as he wants. A certain Sultan of Sokoto Maccido was sacked from office and the heavens didn't fall. We don't need them because they are a heavy drain on the increasing cost of governance. |

As a religious leader, don't take side in politics. Be neutral to your subjects all you need do is to advice them religiously . |

The same Tambuwal that fought for the removal of Jonathan. The same Tambuwam that supported BH against Christian existence in the beginning The same Tambuwal that supported the killing and burning to ashes of Deborah Samuel for mere hate in the name of blasphemy We are all in this country to recall histories. He is now deceiving us again that he is now against Tinubu. Nonsense The blood of the innocent continues to cry against you and your cohorts |

Gajagojo:Stop writing in the rubbish You first claimed Fulani are foreigners Now you suddenly remember nothing about place of birth in Africa Since you claim Fulani Kings have been replaced, I guess the title of sultan is a British creation and the present occupant has British blood in his veins Hausa Kings were killed by fulanis Show me were Nigeria killed Fulani Kings |

Ojuntana:Fulani are foreigners in Nigeria I did not suddenly remember anything I merely corrected your ignorant claim about being born in a place can a Fulani claim to be Igbo or become Oba of Benin because his grandfather was born there The Fulani took power BY FORCE OF CONQUEST in 1804 not because of where they were born Just like Boko Haram or ISWAP Thet established a caliphate that did not last 100 years before rhe British dismantled It they are a foreign people and the remnants of their defunct caliphate are subordinate to the Nigerian state The Sultan is subordinate to the Sokoto government |
| Re: Why Sokoto Governor Alliyu Is After Sultan - The Guardian by Ojuntana: 6:57am On Jun 26, 2024 |
Gajagojo:In that case, even Yoruba are foreigners because they are believed to have migrated from the Northern part of Africa. Igbos are believed to have migrated from Congo area as well. Thrones have always been won and lost through force of conquest. Even among tribes and families. The Roman history will teach you more The Caliphate is a relic of history which still exists. All the emirs till today still get their symbolic staff from sokoto. The sultan is not subordinate to the state govt. There's no law in Nigeria that says such. That's why Atiku recently canvassed for laws to streamline the operation of traditional institutions and I believe they should be totally extricated from state control |

Ojuntana:beleived? Believed by whom? I really do not have time for idiotic talk The caliphate is a very recent phenomenon It started in 1804 and ended in 1903 That is the reality It was dismantled in 1903 and replaced by the Nigerian state The Sultan is a ceremonial figure head in Sokoto state a tiny part of the defunct caliphate The Sokoto state government is just confirming that reality to him with this legislation The Nigerian state has already broken up the residues of the Caliphate into several sates and the Sultan was powerless to do anything about it Today the State government PAYS SALARY to the Sultan |

adams123:Same, it's not a democracy , but a pseudo Monarchy. For all the noise Britain makes about installing democracy around the world. And it's not even just the King. More than half of the Prime Ministers of Britain are selected by a privileged few, and not voted in through elections, including the current Sunak, and the previously deposed two after Cameron. And i believe people should choose what they want, be consistent and stick with it. The current arrangement in Nigeria served and continues to serve the interest of Britain without any proper definition. If the North wants Monarchy, thats fine for them, but means separation because the warrant Chiefs called Igwe in the east are British inventions, and have nothing to do with traditions. If Nigeria, should be a democratic single country, all monarchies must be scrapped. |
