Will Kenyan Revolution Ever Happen In Nigeria? by Wisewriter(op): 11:55am On Jun 27, 2024
The possibility of a Kenyan-style revolution happening in Nigeria seems unlikely due to long time bitterness among Youths from the 3 ethnic groups.

In Kenya, the government's tax hike led to a unified, though tragic, protest that resulted in the revocation of the bill yesterday.

However, in Nigeria, the multi-ethnic composition presents a significant barrier to such unity among the Youths.

If one ethnic group, such as the Yoruba or Igbo, initiates a protest, other regions may not support it, often viewing it through an ethnic or political lens. I could vividlyremeber how they tag endsar movement as IPOB revolution. They claimed IPOB traveled dow to Lagos to destroy Tinubu"s Television House and Lagos state properties. They whole protest was twisted and blames later shifted to IPOB when we all knew it was 1000boyz and other hard criminals and touts that hijacked the protest.

The distrust and division among Nigeria's ethnic groups would likely prevent a collective movement, making a unified revolution against issues like hunger and governance improbable again in the History of Nigeria.

The truth is that the government holds the Youth to a ransome-like in Nigeria. They can impose any rules and use the iron hand of oligarchy to back it up and nno one dare question such taxes. WHO DARES?? NON!

Sure just depends who is president

You think An igbo man or a South South man was president and things are this bad

Yorubas and North won't burn the country?

There is maybe a reason Tinubu became president to expose the hypocrisy of Nigeria

Sad thing is no matter how bad future presidents perform no body would ever protest no body

You can start your so called "Revolution" in the South East, BUT STAY OUT OF THE SOUTH WEST.

Igbos will not burn Lagos (and the SW) a second time.

Yes , it's very possible. In fact ,with the way things are going on in this country,I won't be surprised it happens very soon. Nigerians have been pushed to the wall . The average Nigerian is managing to survive. People are starving to death with no one rescue them from starvation.

Yet the current leadership whose "eyes are very far from the ground" are not doing anything seriously to remedy the situation . The pretend as if they care when they don't.

Before the coming of Boko Haram, most Nigerians will swear that suicide bombings will never happen in this country. But we have experienced that and even worse ; bandits and kidnappers everywhere terrorizing the people.

Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb. If revolution happens I'm afraid it would be very hard to contain it

You mean Yoruba and Northerners stop you from protesting? So you are waiting for Yoruba to start protesting so you can hijack it and burn Lagos State again? If you so much want to protest, gather your friends and start the protest in your state.

Thank you for this video. We must always counter the Ibo man's lies and propaganda with the weapon of TRUTH.....

Already IPOB terrorists and their agents have been taking down many videos of Nnamdi Kanu's hate speech on YouTube. This is being done because of his ongoing trial in the courts...

Idiots have boxed themselves into a corner owing to their hypocrisy, bigotry, greed and lust for power! And you know the funny thing about it all?…..They don’t give a fck, so long as they’re in control of Aso-Rock! Stealing power at the centre is an end in itself for them and not a noble means to ensure a unified, developing, happy and prosperous country!

You are asking the wrong question.

The right question should have been, "Were the tax hikes good or bad for Kenya?"

You see, many saw the apple drop but only one person asked "why?"

Kenya has been living above its means and the IMF advises it to close the gap. The debt burden the country is carrying is already quite high

"The East African country sold a $1.5 billion international bond in February at a premium to fund the buyback of a large portion of a $2 billion bond maturing in June.

Before that, investors had feared Kenya might not be able to repay the bond due to its strained public finances."

The debt burden is already at 64.8% of GDP, which is quite for a country like Kenya.

Above is the problem the country has. The Finance Bill was simply the symptom of the problem.

The protesters aren't answering the issue. As soon as they heard it is IMF, they were filled with rage.

If you feel it is IMF inspired, provide an alternative.

That's why I hate revolutions. They tend to be populist and many times compound the problem rather than solve them.

The Bolshevik revolution in 1917 brought in communist rule into the Soviet Union that lasted 73 inglorious years.

Another is the Iranian revolution in 1979 that brought in the Ayatollah and his gang into power. They are still in office.

It took decades after the French revolution in 1789 before France achieved some stability.
