They were awarded the contracts in 2012. Asking for a review / more funds after 12 good years makes absolutely no sense because what they got in 2012 should have been enough to complete the projects if they had the will.

FG TERMINATES CONTRACTS WITH MOTHERCAT, DANTATA & SAWOE AND RCC COMPANIES FOR NON-PERFOMANCE ON THE DUALIZATION OF OBAJANA-BENIN ROAD; SECTIONS II, III AND IV, WARNS THAT GOING FORWARD, ALL FUNDED BUT NON PERFORMING CONTRACTS SHALL BE TERMINATED

1. The Federal Ministry of Works has terminated contract numbers 6136, 6137 and 6138 with Mothercat Ltd, Dantata & Sawoe Construction Ltd and RCC Ltd respectively. The projects affected by this termination are the dualization of Obajana - Benin road, section II (Okene - Auchi) in Kogi/Edo State; the dualization of Obajana - Benin road, section III (Auchi - Ehor) in Edo State and the dualization of Obajana - Benin road section IV (Ehor - Benin) in Edo State.

2. The termination of the said contracts became neccessary in view of the inordinate delay of the affected companies in job performance and their failure, neglect and or refusal to fulfill their contractual obligations as required by the Standard Conditions of Contract and this has affected the timely completion of the projects and thus resulted in the expiration of the contracts by effluxion of time. The projects which were awarded on 3rd December 2012 were advertently abandoned by the contractors and no genuine commitment or good faith was shown towards executing the projects after accepting the considerations offered by the Federal Government and thereby exposing the road users to untold hardship due to the deplorable condition of the projects.

3. The Honourable Minister has therefore directed the engineers in charge to take necessary steps to enter upon both the site and the works and take the same over from the affected companies. He further directs the engineers concerned to, upon doing the needful, arrange with the affected companies for a joint measurement of work so far done by the said companies preparatory to taking over the sites from the said companies, and this directive is without prejudice to the exercise of other rights of Federal Government under the contract.

4. He warns that the Federal Ministry of Works under his watch will not condone acts of unseriousnes and sabotage by contractors whose plan is to become a clog in the wheel of progress of the Renewed Hope administration which is determined to change the ugly narrative of Nigeria's road infrastructure. He further warns that going forward, the government will not hesitate in terminating all projects that are funded but are non-performing.

I used that road for some years until I stopped traveling on that road in 2020 and the road contract on that axis was not suspended.....infact benin-kogi road wasn't suspended, they were just slow during buhari administration,very slow. I am even surprise they were paid money for the sections so I don't know why they were slow......

some contactors purposely delay jobs to ask for review and most times Fg always pay them upfront for big jobs,this is why I like wike,he will pay the full money and that contractor must finish the job.

Pay Berger their full money...they will never delay your project..Wike and akwa ibom government are living witness..most of the remarkable projects executed by JB in the 90s was because the government of the day were serious in constructing them and paid substantially if not full...not now adays were they will be funding it bit by bit..this methode frustrates the processing of constructing due to inflation which is always on the rise.

PDP was a curse to the entire SS & SE. Remember how Benin used to be an eyesore up till 2007 when lucky was defeated by Oshiomole. Till Date that road from ekpoma to auchi all the way to kogi is in a state. Very evil politicians that need to be eliminated for our state's to be better

First they overcharge and then they work slow delaying is part of their strategy for scamming us. Other serious contractors complete projects but Berger will be delaying and then start asking for project price to be reviewed upwards and started going back and forth using the disagreement about the contract price to cause even more delays.
Hence Minister of Works Engr Umahi has been calling them out in recent months about their delay tactics on many projects they are handling and ordering them to return to site.

That okene benin road is fucking atrocious my God. The fact that they've allowed that shît to rot for years is despicable.

Tell the FG to fund 80% or full..

Berger doesn't overcharge. They just have standard when handling projects.

That is why FG consult their services for big and priority projects.

You can't pay JB full or 80% and they will delay your project.. go and read their history in Nigeria and stop spewing inaccurate statements.

Check out their delievery date for majority of the flyovers in rivers and check again if wike didn't pay 75%. Check again when they delivered akwa ibom stadium and find out if Akpabio didn't fund them well..

Check again in the 90s, warri port, rehabilitation of the niger bridge, ajaokuta bridge, carter bridge and many more.

The government of the day are not serious in funding projects seriously simple.
