https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2024/04/09/tackling-katsina-water-crisis/

In Nigeria, and some European nations, he has engaged with seasoned experts vast in the knowledge of designing efficient water systems, particularly in urban environments like Katsina.

Between the 19th and 23rd of February this year, the governor led a delegation of some government officials and Katsina business personalities on investment-seeking trips visits to Germany, Denmark and Netherlands.

In the three European nations, Radda, who many Katsina residents described as their talk-and-do governor, constructively engaged with leading manufacturers of water hardware and investors.
First, the governor, while in Germany, struck a partnership with KSB, a reputable German company. Established in 1871, KSB specializes in both horizontal and vertical highlight capacity water pumps. The company’s footprints, in terms of the water projects it has executed, can be found in well over 100 countries.

Through its partnership with the German coy, the Katsina State Government will be able to leverage KSB’s expertise and technology to enhance the efficiency and reliability of water supply systems in Katsina. The partnership, among other things, will also see to the installation of state-of-the-art pumping equipment and valves (across many Katsina towns) designed to optimize water distribution and minimize downtime.
In a related development, the Governor Radda-led administration is also partnering with Grundfos. Grundfos is a Danish firm and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of submersible pumps of all variants, sizes, specifications and SolarFlex for pumping water, in all categories of low and high-yielding boreholes.

Grundfos is also known for its innovative and energy-efficient solutions that can help to reduce operational costs and improve the sustainability of water supply systems across all spectrums of pumping stations.
when i read through the article, i will say no wonder they are highlighting prayer

groundfos is the rolls royce of water pumps - but there are much cheaper and reliable Chinese solutions available. any third world leader who is running to western nations for solutions to third world problems is either incompetent or just looking to eat without providing a solution. today indians are cleaning up on the borehole industry. but the governor is going to germany and the netherlands to buy pumps that are assembled in china.

it is no wonder he is highlighting prayers - because there is no real plan to solve this issue. map the water table of katsina, deploy industrial boreholes. build water storage facility - run pipes. instead the man and his entourage are junketing to germany and the netherlands. the Netherlands who are known for FIGHTING water.

the fact that the governor travelled to meet with pump manufactuerers is how you know it is all BS. you are a state with a billion naira budget, you invite the pump guys to come and quote. they will spend their own money and give you a proposal.

but i am digressing because the real issue is identifying sources of groundwater - which is not the purview of pump manufacturers.

there is a problem northerners have and that may be where the vibes and insa Allah jibe comes from

they are not proactive and are mostly content to throw insa Allah at a problem and leave it at that.

everything i read in the link amoto posted shows a dog and pony show where there is no concrete plan to actually solve the water issue.

but because they know that the populace is deeply religious, let us have a show of prayers. we will not get the water, we know we will not get the water, but people will see the chief imam praying for water and will know we sha tried.

meanwhile, let us chop the estacode from our germany and Netherlands jamboree

The bold is why I was laughing when he posted the link. While he’s here being sarcastic by making comments like “ We know what we are doing “ ( with the assumption that I have something against the religion, the state or the region involved ), the governor and his aides,SA’s , SSA’s and those who accompanied him on the trip have smiled to the bank.

possibly the same thing that happened to otedola

dangote has been the beneficiary of concessions over the years that have allowed him to grow.

you could say for instance that dangote got dollar subsidy from the FG.

now this admin is shutting all that down.

i suspect we may be in a battle for the future of nigeria and for some beneficiaries of the old order for continuing as before.

That DYQUE isn't a known brand. From personal experience would recommend SRNE, their 10KW is about 1.7M at the moment. Growatt is another solid brand. You can do Felicity as well, they have great support but based on recommendation, SRNE and Growatt are better than Felicity.

Batteries are Lithium I guess, make sure you're getting some form of Warranty on em...I saw a group buy of 12KW direct from Chinese manufacturers around 4M, so your 24KW would be around 6.5-7M ish.

Longli panels are Tier 1...Longli, Jinko, Canadian Solar are good brands, would recommend getting them brand new and maybe higher capacity if they're cheaper per KW. 40 panels would need lots of space, so make sure you have that bit covered.

If you have the patience I'd recommend doing your research...I don't even know what you're trying to power. From the estimate you gave, I reckon you'd save at least 5M if you went about the purchase of these things personally...and you'd be sure of what you're getting down to quality of wires, surge protection devices and circuit breakers.

The telegram group if you want to DIY (at least regarding purchase of items) - https://x.com/bigbrovar/status/1660285304652046336?t=_jFtsLkmsLifknnlJHFzGg&s=19

He can help with installation - 0813 474 3957.
What's the approximate cost for getting good 8 panels and 4 good batteries? And would they be enough to power a 2-bedroom flat with a fridge & deep freezer?

What is happening is that politicians don't want to play opposition.

Aligning with the party in the center means beyond Edo based enjoyment, they can also chop from center unlimited in terms of board appointments parastatals appointments and general largesse

While as opposition you will be one fighting against the grain which is money consuming

https://www.nairaland.com/8142808/throwback-10-romantic-hiphop-songs

Can any young hiphop head make a case for great hip-hop music released in the last 15yrs 2009 till date vs the previous 15yrs 1994 to 2009?

I think hip hop peaked early 2000s

On the flip side death of hiphop favored Afrobeat

Talking about centre, you mean the federal government?
While this is your opinion which may or may not be true. I think it goes beyond that. Edo pdp has been having internal friction since the primary and shuaibu sagas.

This is because I don't see reason why this frequent resignation from party members should be happening at this time. When members port to other party at the eve of an election, the issue might be unconnected to the center especially when your party is the incumbent party and have the state resources to execute the election which you will be rewarded in return.....

I might be wrong Sha.

I have never liked foreign music in any genre be it hip hop, R n B, etc. I can say the late 90's and early 2000's were not my fave at all as far as music is concerned. That period when AIT would play foreign music endlessly on their lunch break shows, I never really enjoyed those period.

I was happy when the era of dem 2face , plantaishun boiz, remedies, style plus , Dbanj, Don Jazzy,Six foot plus, etc came around. I never really fancied the whole affection with foreign music and I don't know why.Even till date, I will always take naija music over and over any foreign music genre

Ironically , I am not a fan of naija movies. I find naija movies otherwise called nollywood quite distasteful. Even why I force myself to watch a naija movie , I just can't help but see so many plot holes, robotic acting, stereotypical and predictive narratives, etc written all over it. I believe the naija movie industry lacks originality; I may be wrong tho

Many of the early afrobeats and were knockoff Hiphop with most of our musicians doing everything to sound and sing like these foreign hip hop stars. Most R&B wanted to sound like Usher or RKelly, the rappers sef were doing megede-fegede to sound abroadian.

Most of our early hits were straight beat samples of foreign songs. The Mi O shako mo beat was a sample, Plantation boys, the name I think belonged to a foreign group and few of their songs too were samples

I grew up on mostly Yoruba core music, Fuji and Juju. The 80s and 90s were filled with Naija musician borrowing and trying to be raggae artistes, The 90s hiphop were mostly trying to copy the foreign ones we even had groups like Maintain where 70% of their songs were beat samples

Afrobeat started breaking out on its own in the early 2000s and that was where our originality came into it and has grown since then

For Nollywood their best products IMO still remain the epic movie genre Igodo, SaworoIde etc those Ramsey Noah acting BF and Genevieve GF, Rita Dominic sidechic. Or just some girls trying to act out Olosho/hookup movies got stale quickly

Yes I agree the comedy genres were actually funny back in the days with comic acts like Sam Loco Efe, Aki and Paw paw, etc. But over time, they become monotonous. The scripts were predictable and the script writers just didn't go above and beyond to write better scripts than previous works

Good tubular batteries around 2M, panels like 550W capacity per, budget like 1.5M, guess you'd be getting 5KW inverter, it should carry that load comfortably, though how long your battery backup lasts depends on your load management.

Yes, I agree most of the early naija hiphop and RnB artist breakthrough trying to Nigerianize foreign beats/music. I remember Maintain' s" Catch Cold" was literally a Naija version of another American music.

But I think maybe because the wordings of their music was relatable endeared me to the naija artists. While people were buying music lyrics books to learn US hip hop artists' music word for word, I was more interested in the wordings style plus' "call my name", I was more interested in arguing the correct wordings of Rasquie's " Soji".

These movies were too predictable for me.

Pete Edochie will either be the Igwe or a wicked ritualist who will never help relatives with his wealth. Kanayo O Kanayo is a goated Ritualist.

Ramsey Noah the lover boy, Gnevieve the lover girl, Tony Umez will surely cry, Clemz Ohameze will suffer for a while, cry small and then do ritual grin. Jim Iyke will be speaking one kind American accent as a bad boy, etc.

I enjoyed Tunde Kelani movies, Tade Ogidan movies too. The core Yoruba ones are just too tiring to watch except for few epic ones like Jogunomi, etc. Perhaps budget makes it difficult for our producers to come up with quality production movies

I actually enjoy stereotyping in movies. Makes it easier to follow along even if you have little context. And I think it is not a failing of Nollywood but a general movie industries failing.

Giancarlo Esposito will always be the millionaire gentleman drug kingpin with eclectic taste.

The Rock will always have his ass in the jungle running away from monolith monsters.

Timothee Chalamet will always be from the royal line grin

As I grew older, I learned to look past the budgetary limitations of old Nollywood and realised those guys were world class when you realise the impact their movies had even with the limited technical boundaries they had to make do with
