Bad news for that ungrateful noisy region.

Even though it is not their buildings that will be mostly affected, they will be the one to wail the most.

This man doesn't know his job. It's a shame that affect all your gragra in the last one yr as a commissioner, just two days rain, Lagos is tatters with flood.
Learn from Fashola and his commissioner then, clear the drainages and not the building. This is what you should do. You are a young man,the pains and agony your unthoughtful action is causing today, will come to hunt you in the future.
Tinubu, Ambode and Fashola once ruled this state as governor's, their commissioners in your office, never caused people pain and sorrow, but you and your principal are busy throwing people out. This wouldn't solve the problem.
Critical thinking without pain will do the job. Period.

Some people will open their mouth and say they prefer Nigeria.

In other places, it's an abnormality, in Lagos, it's a yearly ritual.

Nonsense place.

Good!

But let it not be selective justice. What will happen to the government workers that approved those buildings?

Meanwhile, at least 50% of the houses in Lekki should go down. A large portion of Lekki should be for beaches because of the land level compared to the sea level.
And you say what about Ikoyi and Victoria Island?

Be deceiving the gullible ones….common road una no get. Build drainage on the major road first.

Lagos state government is not doing enough compared to the amount they develop.

No visible major infrastructure.
You are just wailing and peddling falsehood everywhere. To say Lagos state do nothing is height of confusion and delusion.

Is Joe Igbokwe still doing his job? His contractors are doing bad jobs. They will bring out debris from the gutters and keep them by the road sides, further obstructing free flow of flood. Those contractors hired to clear gutters are not doing their jobs effectively.

The parent of the primary school pupil should be locked in prison without trial. How can you allow your ward to go to school today with that heavy rain that started since early hours of the day ?
Even most adult I know were indoors today and didn't go to work ,some who came out went back.
Parental irresponsibility.

Lagos have become what Aba used to be while the reverse is the case in Aba. What a time to be alive, shaa life na turn by turn. Videos and images of roads and buildings waterlogged reminds me of those days we go swing tire grin

Lagos is below water level hence the annual flood cannot be curbed totally but can be reduced

I watch foreign news and even in USA, there's flood. So they have demolished all houses within that area?
This government is useless

Many more structures obstructing the free flow of rain water in Lagos will still be removed irrespective of who or highly placed the owners are. Prepare your mind to make your usual aimless and empty noise. If turning it to ethnic narrative makes you happy, go ahead!
You mayn't be affected today, that maybe why you are talking like this. But remember that Tinubu, Fashola and Ambode were governors in this same state, had commissioners in the same office this man is occupying, had similar challenges with rains and flooding.
How many people's houses and homes did they destroy? Even if they did, it was minimal and less painful.
This man has refused to clear the drainages and prepare for the rains before it began. We're still going to have more rainy days ahead till Nov.ending, he should be prepared to drive everyone out of Lagos State, to cover his inefficiency. He should learn from Fashola commissioner then on how it was handled.
It's not pulling down houses that will solve the problem, it's out of the box thinking. He came into office, with evil and tribalistic agenda. If in the next 3yrs, Lagos is still flooded after his bragado, shame will be his own.

Seems the houses u demolished made the floods worse

Obviously there was no drainage cleaning towards the last dry season

I honestly feel most state should look at Enugu state model in terms of estate development... Enugu is getting it right other states should follow
You are right but I don't think it is just estates , enugu can never be flooded even if it rains for seven days none stop reason being that apart from having natural water channels all over the city, government don't joke with drainages while constructing roads.
Again every year by March or thereabout, you see individuals delisting drainages in front of their houses and place of business in preparation for the upcoming raining season.

The challenges faced by Lagos State are exacerbated by its leaders attempting to address ecological disadvantages from a limited perspective. As a coastal state with a significant horizontal expanse along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline, Lagos requires thoughtful, proactive solutions rather than reactive measures.
It is crucial to consider the vertical connection between the city's landmass and the ocean. Developing extensive flood channels that link these verticals would facilitate floodwater dispersal into the ocean, significantly mitigating the risk of floods. This strategic approach should guide any necessary demolitions and urban planning initiatives.
Rather than resorting to threats and aggressive rhetoric, the State Government should engage in a collaborative dialogue with citizens. This dialogue should involve acknowledging past planning missteps, outlining a clear vision for the future, and demonstrating a commitment to prioritizing the well-being of residents and visitors alike.
In light of these concerns, it is our recommendation that the current Commissioner be replaced with someone who possesses the emotional intelligence and strategic foresight needed to guide Lagos State towards a more sustainable, collaborative, and prosperous future.

Yeah. And yet, there's still need for stormwater evacuating pump to address the problems critically at flood-proned areas. Lagos should especially planned a couple for the highbrow areas.
Re: ‘many Structures Will Go Down’, Lagos Blows Hot Over Flood by DMerciful(m):
They were doing political demolishing rather than implementing an effective drainage system.

The fact that with all the demolishing, one rain fall caused this means they demolished structures that were not necessarily obstructing water flow.

Abia state government is building massive drainage network to nip flooding incident that have become endemic in Aba to the bud but Agbadorians were mocking them for celebrating gutter.
Now look at where they find themselves while Aba that used to be flooded has now been redeemed.
It is always good to apply sense while engaging in tribal banter

Smithkafors:
Who told you that?. How many roads does Lagos state build in a year?.
Most of the roads in the estates and other major roads was built by individuals.
What has Lagos state government built on the ones that they pulled down?.

Did you see any new drainage on the already demolished structures?.

They should first account for the money they generate before pulling down any house.

You never build common road and drainage for major roads na the ones for bush?.
This ipob fool thinks Lagos is like his rotten state

Post any picture of commissioning of any road built by an individual in Lagos. Just one.
