To foster the false narrative of progress, news is circulated which is portrayed as unprecedented positive developments but which are in fact a replay of the past:

Here is an article from 2017
LAGOS, Feb 1 (Reuters) - Nigeria's central bank has sold $660 million in three- and five- month currency forwards at an auction aimed at clearing a backlog of dollar demand, traders said on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, the central bank had asked commercial lenders to bid in a special currency auction targeted at clearing backlog of dollar obligations of manufacturing, airlines, agriculture and petroleum sector.
https://www.reuters.com/article/world/africa/nigeria-sells-660-mln-forwards-to-clear-backlog-of-dollar-demand-traders-idUSL5N1FM3B8/

Here is another from 2018:

The International Air Transport Association on Tuesday announced that Nigeria had cleared the backlog of $600m trapped funds belonging to foreign airlines operating in the country.

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, IATA, Alexandre de Juniac, disclosed this at the association’s 74th Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit in Sydney, Australia.
According to him, the amount of airline funds blocked from repatriation totalled $4.9bn globally at the end of 2017, which was seven per cent lower than the 2016 figure.

In summary, Nigeria is always clearing FX backlogs and will continue doing so if the naira/inflation problem is not arrested.

Money created out of thin air

Lolzzzz

Really funny World.

Money created out of thin air by Central Banks and then multiplied by commercial banks based on Fractional Reserve Banking and manipulation of interest rates

And guess what you have?

Gtb, zenith, access, okay, kuda....they are all creating loans out of your deposits be it electronic deposit or cash deposits...then they loan that money back to you, their uninformed customer AND still charge you interest and collateral on top your own money

What was your crime.... because you're uneducated??
Because you don't have a united voice??

Or because you choose to be blind.
I call the actual system massive brainwashing. Even if you outline the fact to educated people in Nigeria, I mean by those that have passed through the 6-3-3-4 system, they will assume you have gone mad. That not withstanding, I will still do what works for me irrespective of popular opinions.

Hmm. . Hope it will bring down the value of USD to Naira. It should logically.

When the foreign reserves were depleting an going down, a lot of Nigerians were shouting here that govt is using it to buy Forex to gain Naira valuation.

For the past few weeks / month that our foreign reserves have been increasing, the demons / dark enemies of the nation kept quiet.

We are our major problem in this country. We have too many selfish and greedy (witchcraft) souls in the country. That is why the darkness is so gross.

It's obvious the govt is trying to correct it's errors and ensure that the country does not get collapsed, especially the economy. But we are darkened in thoughts grossly as a people and citizen.

When govt brought dollar down from almost N2,000 to $1 to about N1,000 to $1, bread companies, coke, beverages, milk companies etc refuse to reduce their selling prices by 1 Kobo. The masses govt is trying to aid will grossly go the media and say that govt is using their foreign reserve to enhance Naira valuation and will not see the enemies amongst themselves that continues to increase end-price of food, goods and services.
Hope you are okay from upstairs

We are glad to have a responsive president like president Tinubu
Tinubu engaged some sound minds to handle portfolios for him, that why he has been able to gain some little stability in some economic quarters. He is quite a responsive leader too. Not disciplined enough thou.

Obasanjo is the best Nigerian president I have seen in recent times.

I rate Tinubu above Jonathan, coz Jonathan is very loose and does not have a firm grip on anything. He was just lucky to rule after a point when Obasanjo had gathered a lot of wealth and stability for the nation.

Buhari is worst of all. He has bad luck on his head and surrounds himself with very clueless entities. His policies have almost returned Nigeria back to stone age.

You people are just ignorant.

That's the bank job to accept deposit and borrow it to people that needs the money at an interest rate,

Banks don't technically borrow customers deposits

That's what they tell outsiders so there wouldn't be a revolution by tomorrow morning

Think! If banks borrowed same customers deposits, there would be NO MONEY CREATION in the system

And anytime a bank closes, people would be scared of losing their money. But silicon valley bank closes and their money was insured...

Money was insured WITH WHOSE MONEY??

CLICK! there's your light bulb moment

So the banks keep customer deposits and loan out bank credits which is ELECTRONIC MONEY. THATS how money is created out of thin Air

UBA and GTB and Opay and Kuda and Carbon don't tell you this.

And side note... put some manners to your comment else I'll ignore it next time
The amount of real cash being hold in a bank does not equivalent to the amount of cash in everyone's account in a bank.

If everyone decided to enter bank to collect their real cash in a day, do you think the bank will be able to give out the cash to customers?

Buhari really did bad with the Nigeria air scam nonsense. All the useless criminals involved in that Nigeria air scam nonsense need to be jailed!

In fact, Nigeria need to be restructured and return back to Regionalism.
