This drives development. When you empower people to make purchase, the manufacturers profit will grow leading to their expansion, employment of more people thereby reducing unemployment and higher taxes to government for infrastructural development. This is how developing countries become develop.

no it doesn't. This just drives inflation because there is more money in the economy pursuing little goods. Countries that do this do so to enhance consumption of goods produced by the already established companies.
