With the highest in IGR and multiple taxation in lagos,the state doesn't have an excuse to be owing active and retirees civil servants backlog of unpaid salaries and arrears of pensions.If a driver is arrested for a traffic offence his car will be auction and the proceeds go to the government.So why owing salaries when the state generate a lot of taxes?

Imagine owing 2,000 retirees for only God knows how long. Some would have been dead.

It is not an achievement. It is simply your obligation as a debtor to pay the people you owe.

I don’t know why people are celebrating this. It was long over due. They should never have been owed ab initio whether with a good or bad IGR.

If funds weren’t diverted, embezzled and all that with what Lagos State gets, we won’t be here.

Elephant projects that can’t put food on the table of most Lagosians, and by extension Nigerians, especially civil servants, is not worth embarking on because those are avenues for siphoning resources.

In a country where some states like Abia have no idea how much is being owed to pensioners, and some others like Benue & Rivers are owing over N100B, I think it's worth celebrating to appreciate states like Lagos & Kaduna that have maintained up-to-date pension payments. I'm certain if you're a civil servant, you'd prefer to work in the states where you're certain your welfare will be of high priority to politicians during and after your service.

Very commendable moves by the governor.Pension is something that should not delayed in its payment, because the beneficiaries have put in the best years of their lives, their full fledged productivity in the public service, and so they deserve their pension without delay.

Kudos to him. At least , there will be a kind of a little bit relief! There's hardship in the land!
