Ex-president Of Iran (2005-2013) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad , Herding Sheep by Goldsplash(op): 5:45am On Jul 07, 2024
The ex-president renounced his presidential pension, returned to teach at the university, receiving $250 a month, and lives modestly in his house. When he stays at a hotel, he asks for a simpler room, maybe even without a bed, because he likes to sleep on the floor on one mattress under a blanket, he gets around by bus, the President of Iran sold his maintained Peugeot.

To questions about why he, being president for two terms, could have seriously improved his financial situation, but did not, Ahmadinejad answers that a real leader must live the way his people live

Wiped off the map" controversy. Ahmadinejad was the subject of controversy in 2005 when one of his statements, given during "The World Without Zionism" conference in Tehran, was translated by the Iranian state-controlled media as suggesting that Israel should be "wiped off the map".

This is an unparalleled act of leadership in the "post-presidential" years. Did I read that he renounced his pension and then returned to the classroom to teach? shocked
This is one of the most impactful ways to impart patriotism into the teeming youth of any nation.
Granted that I'm not a fan of their style of government, I can hardly think of a better way of expressing life's simplicity.
Truly, all is vanity!

Not true. Remember people commenting he works at the state capital(Tehran) after he left office when this pic of him first went viral. The picture of him with herds was when he went visiting an old neighborhood or something like that.

And very intelligent too. It seems that the era of brilliant world leaders has ended. See this Iranian president? Tony Blair and Bill Clinton? Those days were the days of smart world leaders. Not the Tinubu, Buhari types.

Tony Blair, a centrist to the left, joined hands together with George Bush jnr, a right-wing conservative to invade Iraq. How wise was that? That was the height of foolishness. I'm sure had he been prime minister around during
JFK, he would have sent British troops to Vietnam.

The Iraqi invasion in 2003 had no justification whatsoever as a war was still ongoing in Afghanistan.

Let's digress a bit.

What would have happened in Iraq during the Arab spring if Saddam Hussein was still in office? Syria would look like child's play. Only Kurdistan would remain unscathed and that's a probability.

Ya'll should stop all these sensational stories.
Ahmadinejad is neither poor nor broke. He is still influential in Iranian politics. Just that he loves a modest life.
