Did APC Actually Do This In Nine Years Of Being In Power? by gidgiddy(op):
I came across the below on Facebook. I dont know if its Rufai Oseni's authentic Facebook page or not

However, is it true? Did APC take Nigeria's national debt from 12 trillion Naira in 2015 to 120 trillion in 2024?!

The amount of money we are talking here is not pocket change.

Yep, and the same thing is happening in most African countries, and will happen in your BIafra too. cheesy

But on a more serious note, this shows that APC Has definetly failed. The fact is, they promised diversification, which might have reduced this , instead we got a more oil dependent economy.

The problem is, in most African countries, we sell raw materials.

1. The price of the raw materials is not controlled by us, it is controlled by the international market. So, as a result the price never does favor us, and as a result, we take loans to fund the budget, or else nothing would get done.

2. We also run import dependent economies...which is a nice way of funneling forex out of the country.

3. When you sell petrol that should be costing N1200 per liter at N700 and below, how do you think the resulting loss is covered.? Same for electricity, which should cost above N170

4. You are not productive, you don't use raw materials to make things for the world market....so you can't earn forex.

5. Tax to gdp is low, tax coverage is low (because most of us are poor) result...pressure on the oil income

6. We produce less than 2 m barrels of crude per day. If we were 8 million people, it would make sense, but we are 260 million, and growing. 80% of our revenue is oil related. And because it is not enough

7. Debt picks up something called interest.

The truth is, resolving the problem requires hard decisions. But most of you want quick, quick. And most of you support candidates because it is your tribe...as seen with apc, pdp, even obi supporters.

But the thing is, we got to take hard decisions...like removing subsoides, paying more tax, and most importantly......manufactured goods and servicies. If we had more of Innoson and NORD...

You think Biafra would take 10% of what tinubu is doing? Then you don't know igbos

The only saving grace for our governors is just Abuja

Without Abuja you think Hope would be governor?

Or MBA would be governor?

I am seeing what your governors are doing, I have seen what OBi is doing, and I know what happened in the first republic when we had regions....and I have seen other African countries. And I can confindently say BIafra would be like Nigeria. Resource dependent.

That's why every secessionst wants to take the oil producing regions with them out of Nigeria. It is because they know that without them, they would have no money. Literally.

I hate saying this, but the problem is, most Nigerians and biafrans and africans want cheap thing. It takes a very long time to build a developed nation and it means a lot of hardship. No Biafran leader, in the event of independence is going to promise that 'we have to struggle today to build a better tomorrow'. No thank you. SO, they would do subsides, they would do freebies...and within ten years it would be Nigeria and every African nation all over again. Debt ridden, and dependent on loans from Geneva.

(Consider that once Nigeria divides, the IMF Is gonna split the debt from old NIgeria. Ask the Yugoslavs what IMF did when they broke up.).

The reason why I consider all Nigerian leaders failed , as I do for African leaders is that at independence, they all ran their countries as freebies socialist subsidy regions. They wanted to make everyone equal. The problem is, it usually leads to debt. See East gernamy...they tried to do without capitalism, and ran socialism, and everything, even house rent, was subsidised...and everyone was happy, until the bill came in in the 1980's. The wall fell because they ran out of money.

I have no proof that BIafra is going to do what I want it to do...become an industrial superpower...because I know Africans too well. Say remove subsidy....you are an evil person. Say, pay subsidy, you are a good person, and a demigod. Make we continue.

(There is nothing wrong with secession by the way..every mature democracy has a secessionist movement.)

If Biafra is going to be like Nigeria, then there no point of having Nigeria. The point of Nigeria is that we are better off together, than apart. However, if we are going to be in the same boat, wether together or apart, then there's no point being together
