Many Nigerians woke up to suddenly find out that they can no longer share the 400GB and 1TB data plans.

It generated an outrage and NCC has intervened.

It is a breach of contract and it seems MTN were ill-advised on the plan to suspend the data sharing for the particular bundle.

I had to call MTN CC and it was confirmed since there was no official statement before and after. So to be sure I chatted with two different agents incase they deny it again...lol

Anyway... ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED.



New update, the issue is back !!
400GB for 3 months, 200GB for 1 month and 1TB for 1 year

MODIFIED!!!
Sharing has been restored

Another issue to be tackled is the daily share limit. Why can't more than 5GB be shared per day?

I tried again after clearing cache and restarted the myMTN app.

The transfer was successful. Thanks

400GB and 1TB has been suspended again for data sharing again.
200GB added as well.


This is a clear breach of contract!!!

This MTN guys are criminals..... Really got to contact my big Uncle at NCC Hqts

MTN just dey do anyhow them increase their 5G router price from 50k to 60k now from 60k to 80k+

The wisest thing they should have done is to allow the existing data subscribers to exhaust their plan and afterwards they can do whatever they want.

However MTN is not wise.

They will never win this one.

I subbed the 1TB yearly plan which costs ₦100,0000 by mistake.

If I choose to retail 1GB at ₦330, that gives ₦1,650 daily and an average of ₦49,500 monthly. Time that by 12 and grand sales of ₦594,000.

I believe MTN has realised that customers are taking advantage of Data share to run a very profitable business.

And it was MTN that brought the plan, isn't it their duty to make sure it doesn't affect their business? Why should it be the consumers who would bear the brunt of their incompetence? It is their duty to make all necessary checks before bringing/rolling out a feature; it not our concern if it ends up hurting them, after all, they're all in it to profit from us

We have been caught in the middle of the battle. I've sent a mail requesting them to transfer the remaining balance to my HynetFlex plan.

If MTN app does not work, try ussd method.

I have just succeeded in exhausting 400GB plan.

The normal thing is to re-subscribe but MTN people are not normal.

Call 5 customer care agents on this matter and they will give you 5 different responses

I think it better just to avoid the controversial bundles till further notice...

"Dear Customer, an update has been made to MTN Data Transfer service, starting from 11th Oct 2024 you will have a maximum of 10 Data shares in a month. SME Data exempted. Thank you for choosing MTN"

Your mathematics is faulty. If you sell the data 5GB per day, it will run out in just 7 months. So it is wrong for you to multiply it by 12. It should be multiplied by 7. Whatever the case, final figure is 330 x 1,000GB. 330k, not 590k.

This is still a breach because you cannot change a term of service while it is still running.
The correct thing still remains for the existing subscription to end before implementating a new term of service.

This will not stand.

Image I buy 400GB to share to my team, you now limit me to 5GB times 10 times abi which is 50GB
I will be left with 350GB that I don't need

Meanwhile, Please where did you get this latest update on MTN from?
