Tellmeastory:Common sense is far from you, yet you have the guts to call people unprintable names while displaying your ignorance. Do you know the number of Yorubas who live in the UK? Or do you know the number of Igbos living in Cameroun? Have they all been asked to return to their country? Read and learn. If Nigeria splits, new governments will ask foreign nationals to obtain documents that show they are visitors. They will eventually learn to behave in their new country or be deported to their country of origin. Any government that deports a large number of people who have economic value pays a heavy price for it. By the way, this moniker doesn't subscribe to balkanization. I am all for restructuring and resource control by states. |

DMerciful:This is the key! Component parts of Nigeria would be asked to either congregate with likeminded/contiguous ethnicities or declare they’re standing alone! This would give some idea as to the number of countries that will come out of the process. Then a UN conducted referendum will be conducted, and if the vote is overwhelming for secession, the component part or group concerned will be allowed to leave! *Abuja and Lagos will go to the new country they find themselves in…..ie, Arewa/Middle-Belt or Oduduwa respectively! I think you’ll find NO ethnic group in the southern part of Nigeria will quarrel with this! Though the initial owners of the land can also vote to either be part of the new bigger country concerned or stand alone on their own! *Issues of liabilities like loans and asset would be settled partly based on where the projects or the assets are located. Shared ownership of any of these projects or assets can also be an option. *Hydrocarbons would be jointly owned initially by all seceding parts, and the share of those where the hydrocarbons are not in their territory would be gradually reduced by 10% yearly, then a decade after full ownership will revert back to the part where they’re located in! *Component units or ethnicities in the entire south can equally elect to form a confederal country of their own….and include likeminded ones from the north so willing to join! The key thing to note here is that any component parts willing to federate or confederate would be joining as equal members no matter their size or resources, and they would be doing so without being forced with a gun held to their heads! |

SmartPolician:You make good points! I don’t think we’d be here discussing this issue today had the part in bold been done or been likely to be done! The hegemonic powers that have been in control since the late 60s and held Nigeria to ransom ever since are the major problem preventing Nigeria from unifying and doing the right thing….right thing being the bolded part of your post! THEY are the reason why secessionist agitations exist, and you’d notice THEY are the ones fighting these secessionist movements the most! |

Tinubu should divide the country. He should damn the consequences and do it. Nigerians will forever be grateful to him. |

Total desintegration is the only favorable option for this contraption called Nigeria. ((Restructuring)) Most of us in Nigeria understand that word differently the way Northerners understand defers with the understanding of the Southerners so you see restructuring will be bluffing |

So only wazobia matters We have over 200 ethnic groups in Nigeria. So we should have like 50 countries? |
| Re: Nigeria Will Work Better If Divided by LOVEALAIGBO: 1:08pm On Jul 11, 2024 |
ednut1:I reckon if every component unit or ethnicity is free to choose, at the end of the process no more than 6 countries will emerge from Nigeria! Nigeria may EVEN survive the process sef! Key thing is that no one is harangued or bullied into being part of a country they have reservations about….like we have with Nigeria today, and they all have the freedom to use their own resources to develop at their own pace! |
| Re: Nigeria Will Work Better If Divided by ednut1(m): 1:58pm On Jul 11, 2024 |
LOVEALAIGBO:each ethnicity is free to choose but you are limiting it to 6. Can you see how disingenuous you are 😂. In delta state alone you will have like 4 countries . |

Here is the news: Nigeria cannot divide. For Nigeria to divide, there has to be a war, bloodier and deadlier than the Civil War. No country in recent history, say the 21st Century, aside from the breakup of the Soviet Union, has divided without a war. Even Kosovo which is "divided" is not recognised by the China/Russia bloc in the International Community. This brings me to an important part: for a country to successfully divide and function, it needs to be recognised by all major power blocs in the International Community. The international community here is: The West and its allies, India, China/Russia, Brazil, Turkey, Saudi Arabia etc. Failure to get these parties to recognise your new country means life would be miserable for every citizen. It means you people are cut off from international trade and travel. The poverty will be X2 of what they experienced while in Nigeria. Other examples are Northern Cyprus and to an extent Taiwan. Please note, I am not a fan of "One Naijeriya", but we have to grasp reality here. Any division of present-day Nigeria WILL not happen without a bloody war. |

Gerrard59:Economic pressure as a result of looting and poor governance will collapse Nigeria. Nobody needs to fight any war. That's why I am standing on this mandate till 2031, Gandollars can run after Bulaba |

| Re: Nigeria Will Work Better If Divided by oluwasunkanmi97(m): 6:09pm On Jul 11, 2024 |
gidgiddy:True sha.. But wait.. The North... The North.... Who is this North ? In reality this "North" might just be only one geopolitical zone that the whole country is giving too much respect to. So, if something that will help every citizen greatly needs to be done, and the other zones plus the North Central agrees to the motion, if this "North" doesn't agree it will not stand ?? It is well |

lastkingsman:Nothing will happen. You over-rate Nigerians. As long as Nigeria(ns) is divided across ethnic and religious lines, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. No protest in Nigeria has ever been united. |

Restructuring will still be the same as 1 NIGERIA. The Nonsense tribalism will still be implemented during elections cycles. The elected leaders from regions will also continue scheming to be President to the detriment of their regions Make NIGERIA scatter...don't you want Oduduwa Republic with Lagos and your own? ONDO OGUN Lagos They have Oyel na... Let NIGERIA divide so you can't blame IGBOs for making you unprogressive.. comprehend? ElSudani: |

I am sorry but this is not the answer to our problems. In current day Nigeria not a single state has running pipe borne water. If you don't have a bore hole na you know. Just think about that, not one state has been able to provide WATER. Now if you divide the country tomorrow is it not the same people that have been governors and senators from these states, that will now become the leaders of Arewa, Biafra, Odua...? Our problems are wickedness, selfishness and lack of compassion. These traits are in way too many people in the country, and if you divide you will simply have the same traits in the new breakaway nations. Imagine a Biaffra with Orji Kalu as president or an Odua with Tinubu as president. Would it not be the same corruption that would manifest there? We need a change of mindset and a proper rule based order to progress |
