1. B1-B2 VISA decision is mostly based on your financial capability to fund the trip and the major one is ties to your country of origin. Ties means " those conditions that must make you return back to Nigeria right away or in the future .

2. Work history as a Working-Class citizen makes your resumé looks genuine and respected. I will recommend you list all previous work experiences in your DS-160 as they build up your ties.

3. I will not give you the VISA if i am handed the consular baton and you are standing in my front with just 1 or 2 years work-place experience. Mention that particular one as your previous employer.

Your visa interview will likely focus on those areas and why your company decided to spend so much money on foreign conference rather than getting such info locally or attending the conference via zoom.

So you need to prepare to defend that. You need a sponsor letter from you company that will also include your company's profile and financial standing.

Do you reside there? If No then it is not possible. You must apply from your place of residence.

Only if you legally reside in the country via:
Work permit
Study permit
Diplomatic visa
Residence permit, etc.

If you just travel there for the purpose of applying for visa, or you are on a temporary visitor’s visa, you will most likely be denied.

I’m trying to fill the CGI form for my in-laws to visit the US and I did as instructed about adding them together in the application, I’m at the stage of payment and it’s showing 2 spaces for each of the applicants receipt numbers. Do I pay the money separately in order to generate different receipt numbers or I will pay and use the same receipt number for both of them? Kindly advise

I’m to attend a conference in New York on the 17th of October. I work with a real estate and Agro company. The company is funding the trip as the conference is quite important for the agro segment they are venturing into next years.

The company has given me a letter of sponsorship also, I have reprinted my letter of appointment with the company. What other doc do I need? Meanwhile, I have gotten the invitation letter from the conference organizers.

Also, I have been advised by the conference organizers not to not make arrangements for accommodation until visa approval because they won’t take responsibility for any loss. Meanwhile, I was asked to fill accommodation details in the form DS 160 form. I don’t know how to go about this.

Is your yearly salary at least twice of the cost that the company will pay for you to attendance the conference?

You will definitely need to pay individually. If you're paying on the GTB app, you're required to input name of applicant, passport number, DOB and phone number. You'll have to do so one at a time.

Hey 🤠

1. In order to avoid excuse or unnecessary stories, i would rather you walked physically into any GTBanK and make a separate payment for both applicants and collect the payment receipt.

2 After that login to your cgi and input those payment receipt reference numbers for each individual and click continue. That settles your doubt.

1. Yes you can change your initial VISA appointment once (via reschedule option) after which you won't be able to change it again.

No. The US doesn't check for POF for B1/B2

Expedited Appointment has its rules. If you do not meet them, it is denied. Going for a conference is not a reason to use it. https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/en/expedited-appointment.
You have the options of only checking 3 times a day to pick dates that pop up, but getting a Sept date may not be possible. Work towards next year

1. Don't deceive yourself. The question should be is Proof of funds still a requirement in securing B1-B2 VISA ? And the answer is. Yes !

2. That is why in your DS-160, the question " person/entity paying for your trip comes up. Consular officers may not ask for your POF physically but its a major requirement . Attend your visa interview with necessary documents.

1. Attending a conference or seminar or a business visit in the USA are under B1 VISA which is clearly stated on the USA embassy website. Therefore , a conference is valid to be used for emergency appointment under Business Emergency.

2. But your problem is the invitation letter. Tell the conference organizers to state in your invitation letter that ; you are a very very important personality and your attendance is a must. They should also state it that your inability to attend the conference will have some negative impacts on the conference events as a whole.

3. Only with an official invitation letter like that of the number 2 above will prompt the USA embassy to approve your business emergency appointment request.

4. All travellers to the USA since Covid 19 pandemic must present a must-travel scenario (under : Study, Business & Medical) before they can be taking serious by the consular officers or USCIS.
